Can the Buffalo Bills' 2024 roster, crafted by General Manager Brandon Bean, lead them to a Super Bowl victory? With the team navigating a challenging $50 million salary cap deficit, every decision is under scrutiny.
Host Joe Marino evaluates key roster moves, including trading away Stefon Diggs, letting Gabe Davis walk in free agency and the strategic extensions of Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown. The episode also examines the impact of free agent signings like Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins, alongside a critical review of the 2024 NFL Draft picks, featuring Keon Coleman and Cole Bishop. Marino's analysis highlights the Bills' in-season trades, such as acquiring Amari Cooper, and assesses Bean's overall strategy in building a competitive team.
Tune in to discover whether the Buffalo Bills have the right mix of talent and strategy to achieve their Super Bowl aspirations.

@@pran1111don't exaggerate Worthy. It wasn't a catch, he had help. Obviously. We need a game wrecker on D who can STOP Mahomes cold on his drives and for god-damned ONCE hold the Chiefs to less than 20 points. Our D is averaging like 30 points per game allowed in the 4 Chiefs playoff games. Go get Garrett! That's how we win. Bold moves, the right ones. #BillsMafia4Life

Yep this whole Worthy thing is funny. He’s a fine player but we had Shakir and Samuel. If Worthy is getting a lot of slot snaps then where is he playing here? Sure he’s a speedster but whenever I watched the Chiefs he was running a lot of the same type of packages and role as Curtis. I don’t think we were ever drafting him nor should we. They were looking for someone to develop outside and be a big physical target. If anything they would have drafted Ladd imo if they were willing to go for a smaller guy who lined up inside a lot. Before the injuries Coleman and Carter for Worthy didn’t look like s bad deal. Give it time, I have feeling that one will be just fine when they all come up for contracts

B - Great job managing the salary cap. Getting rid of Diggs and not signing Davis huge kudos. Trading 28 for more draft capital a win. Drafting Coleman a massive question mark in my book. Love Ray Davis pick. Jury out on Cole Bishop. Carter another high character, not tough enough in the trenches Dlineman.

@ It’s a fluid thing Bills already have peices in place they needed some room to extend a few. There will be space to make some additions and leverage the cap again for a big name free agent, hopefully on the D-line. I imagine this will be the strategy for the next five years until they needed to cut a bunch again.

Worthy is not great and we will see what they're worth next year and in 2-3 more years. Can't judge players much after just 1 year. Coleman was inured by idiot Jordan Poyer needlessly on last couple plays of that futile game. Total dick move on Poyer's part. That hurt Coleman a lot. Just for context. Worthy didn't make the catch in the AFCCG it was an interception or an incomplete pass.

You didn’t mention the Worthy trade! Beane single-handedly cost his team a Super Bowl appearance with that one move-his biggest failure to date. In a single trade, he took a star wide receiver away from Josh Allen and gifted Patrick Mahomes the one thing the Chiefs were missing after the Tyreek Hill departure: a blazing-fast receiver. The result? Worthy torched the Bills' defense for nearly 100 yards and a touchdown in the AFC Championship. Buffalo lost by just three points. Take Worthy out of the equation, and the Bills likely win by multiple touchdowns. This wasn’t just a bad trade-it was a history-altering, dynasty-defining mistake that enabled a potential Chiefs three-peat. The worst trade in NFL history since the Mahomes deal.

Beanes drafts rarely come out hot out the gate. I think this one will age well like some other recent drafts. He’s drafting late every round, not impossible to find instant impact guys but certainly harder. I was down on Carter too but keep in mind he made 3-4 MONSTER plays in those Titans and Jets games that altered the game in key moments. Then he got hurt. I still like him to become a good number 3 d tackle. Keon will be fine , the only issue there is he needs to be able to move around some and there isn’t many slot snaps for him. He has big YAC potential and getting him some underneath stuff and screens would unlock his game more. Davis is self explanatory. Bishop looked solid in the Chiefs game, so that gave me hope. I’m very high on Solomon as a pass rushing specialist and thought he needed more looks there late. Good pick imo. Both o linemen look like they have potential. I think this draft looks much better in two years.

Well Joe i tried to tag you but not sure how on KZbin but I’m glad you brought up Mack and his influence outside of just production bc that was a question I’ve been meaning to ask you,bc I want us to resign him as much or maybe even more than almost anyone else( within reason obviously lol) but I think his overall impact far exceeds just his on field production, he does all the little things and seems to be the ultimate team player even on small things like how he celebrates with teammates when they get a first down n just good overall energy, and that kinda stuff Is contagious and I think he genuinely makes a team and team chemistry better and to me I think that makes up for some of his other deficiencies in WR talent but all my life I’ve heard about teams having” glue guys” and I think that the exact definition of him and would be bummed to see him anywhere else( although I do know that’s a possibility), and my other question i have is who would you consider to be an ideal backup QB to JA17?? And like you said hopefully it won’t matter but just curious who you would feel comfortable with realistically in that role??? Thanks for all the great content!!

Anyone not pleased with the season and or roster doesn't understand the CAP is a real thing and while Beane would have loved to have signed Derrick Henry in Free Agency, BB had no money available. I have a solution to the KC problem! Hire Steve Spagnuolo to be the Co-Head Coach! Pay him what Sean McDermott makes, approx 8 million / year. Sean would still be in charge of whatever aspects he wanted and give Spags the parts he doesn’t like (maybe press conferences). While it would be a Co-Coach, Sean still has final say if there is a disagreement. Spags should call the defensive plays and may or may not also be the defensive coordinator (depending on what they want to do with Bobby Babbich) WHY Spags would do it? -He has PUBLICLY said he wants to be a head coach again! -Head coach MONEY is WAY more than DC money! (Almost double what he is reported to be making) -Has a HORRIBLE reputation and record as a head coach and this ALMOST certainly would fix that as he is mostly guaranteed to make the playoffs first year AND could be remembered as the guy “that came in is as head coach and then the Bills won the Super Bowl.” Why Sean would do it? -Drain the Chiefs of their Defensive Coordinator -Get to collaborate with one of the best -Hand off some responsibility (especially his least favorite parts) to a competent partner Why Terry Pegula should do it? -Drain the Chiefs of their Defensive Coordinator (The Chiefs should get remarkably worse on defense for at least one transition year but possibly FOREVER! And the Bills defensive play calling should see a big upgrade.) -8 Million for additional salary for another head coach is A LOT cheaper than ELITE defensive talent and more guaranteed toward results and no worry about injury. PLUS 8 million for additional brain talent is FAR better use of money than paying 30 MILLION for a guy NOT to be on your team (Diggs) AND you don’t have to worry about injuries.

Free agency he hasn’t been great either. Diggs was a good deal but idk who else he has brought that has been a big hit. Several decent players but no all-pros. Hope they’re both a lot better going forward. Trey Hendrickson and Milton Williams may be good DL signings. The 2025 draft is loaded with DL players and hopefully they use at least two picks from rounds 2 & 3 on DL..maybe all three. CBs Tre White and Jeff Okudah may be good signings. Rasul didn’t play well until he went to the Packers, thus Jeff may hit his potential elsewhere. Tre will be recovered for another year from his injuries and would likely take a prove it deal, plus he’d be back on a team he knows extremely well. Neither would be expensive.

There are quite a few things that can be stated at the end of the Bills season.: 1- The Roster is not good enough. Going into the season the Bills had a roster outside the top 10 in the league (with this in mind what was achieved was very good - but expected to come short at some point). One could say that the coaching staff manage to do well with what was provided... in the end you need eggs to make omelettes!!! 2- The team has a big shortage of superstars/reliable play makers/reliable difference makers - that is reflected in the team statistics and the Pro Bowl selections. The team had players with outstanding games but not reliable enough to sustain those efforts across multiple games or to be impactful when it mattered!!! 3- Why do we see across other teams rookies being impactful on their first year and not with the Bills?? The Bills had 2 second round picks that had very little contributions!!!! 4- Let's look at rankings....10th in Total Offense rankings and 17th on Total Defense rankings!!!! How do you expect to win something specially with this defense!!!! The Bills could not stop the run!!! The pass rush was ineffective when needed!!! The WR's could not get separation!!!! 5- In the playoffs we won as expected when being favorites (against the Broncos even though some analysts earmarked the Bills for a possible upset due to the Broncos defense); won almost against all odds in the divisional round even though in the second half we could not stop the Ravens and were lucky in the end of the game; and then in the AFC final ..... all the shortcomings showed up on Defense ... on Offense ... on coaching staff (decisions on both O and D) ... and even the refs decided all 50/50 call against the Bills!!!!! 6- Even tough Josh did not have his best game in the AFC final .... he was the main difference maker and the reason the Bills got this far!!! In the true definition of the words MVP he should be it this year!!!!! Compare the OLine, WR and RB rooms of the Bills with the other front runners!!!!! In the end what can be done!!!! The are plenty of other teams that have better rosters and also much more loaded on studs/difference makers .... Are we really fooling ourselves that this Front Office and Coaching staff can turn this around???!!!!! After the draft and free agency I wrote that was not expecting much of this team !!!! I have very little trust that 1 more draft and free agency will turn things around .... unless they manage to hit on a potential future hall of fame stud that helps the margins on Bills behalf!!!

@@erivej My comments were most on the overall team and the lack of impact players or difference makers when it really matters!!! Their OL was porous all season but only allowed 1 sack in the AFC final... Their RB group is not as good as ours (specially after their injuries) but made the plays when it mattered (see their last drive to close the game) and their WR room had better plays than our as well ... I still state that the roster is not good enough and has been loosing quality year on year ... with poor drafting and free agency overall... Josh and Cook have been saving our Offense stats with albeit an improved OLine (the only improvement from previous years) but the Defense has been getting worse since the 13 sec game .... with not a single key game wrecker.....

@@donkeybus Also good arguments!!! The Bills are not in year 1 or 2 of Josh Allen's career... we are on his seventh year!!! The Team got bumped up with the investment on Diggs and the Defense was way better then .... but still fell short due to coaching mistakes... the last few years I feel the team has stagnated on offense and regressed badly on defense!!! What degree of confidence do you have that the Front Office and Coaching staff will be able to turn it around? Andy Reed for all his accomplishments in Philadelphia only reached a SB there and lost it!!!

A+++ he rebuilt the team with a limited budget. And they played well enough to be in the super bowl. If the refs were on Buffalo's side, they are in the superbowl obviously.

Good Morning Joe. To me one of the biggest challenges the Bills face is Beanes drafts and free agency signings have been poor. McDermott’s defensive line schemes are very poor

So he cleaned up the cap. Whiffed on free agents. Whiffed on the draft. Not trying to sound like a hater. Beane is a decent GM. But he’s not the amazing BBB the fans and media thinks he is.

That dead money handicapped us. Had to have been a better way. If you want off my team. Fine go out with ur agent and find a team and a way we can get that money back. Otherwise. Ur going nowhere. Sit on the bench all i care.

Take away Josh Allen and James Cook how many wins would this team have? We have not built a good team. The all pro confirms that.

Pro bowl is a joke, its a popularity contest. It has very little to do with actual preformance. So I think its a pretty hollow point. Bills players have been overlooked for years.

Beane had the ball in Josh Allen’s hands with 3 minutes left and all their timeouts. What else can you ask for. Allen gets 5 yards and turns the ball over. lol

I felt the team had the players ….. and during the season like the last 5 … they were so competitive …and had every opportunity to make SB.. but for some reason … they play a bad game vs KC … seems like their Adrenalin is lacking … seems to be playing passive esp on D …….

It’s time to be aggressive in the Draft. Move up and start drafting difference makers on Defense. Use future picks if you have to it’s time.

Joe , at some point let's hope Josh doesn't end up like Dan Marino , get to the playoffs, one try at the Superbowl, 49 ers Montana the winner . The G. M. Has a lot to do just how far the team / coach can develop players winning the big one Superbowl. The Chiefs ,why are they so successful, their G.M. / coach ,develope players to win the Superbowl ? It's not magic , yes some luck , but they are like a fine working piece of machinery, your thoughts on this Joe ?

My god they are still throwing flags in the Chiefs favor. I understand Matt Malano was given a $11,000 fine today for a face mask in the 4 quarter of the AFC championship game. Unbelievable.

Did you see the facemask? Go back and watch it. Milano tackles the back with his usual poor technique resulting in his grabbing the facemask and hair as his momentum takes him out of bounds he releases the hair but pulls the back with him by the facemask - right in front of the referee. Ridiculous!

Draft class is very much tbd. Coleman and Bishop, and even Davis to an extent have a lot to prove, but I'm optimistic about their trajectory. But can we stop signing the Chiefs leftovers? They just don't seem to be good culture fits with us, Morse is the only one that's worked.

If Allen wants to win a SB, he should do what Brady did and take half the salary he deserves so the money can be spent on other players. That’s why Brady has all those rings.
