Remember the time when fans would argue with me that we didn't miss out on J-Dub😅 Not trying to be a dick, Jeremy has improved massively defensively, however without a reasonable 3P ability he's never going to come close as what Jalen Williams is providing OKC right now... And of course if we have Hali over DV, that one I'm not as pissed since DV wasn't a bad choice at that time,but turned out to be night and days difference anyway. Because the Spurs love those 6'6" combo guards. They can't think outside the box. They should have drafted Alperen Sengun. They are stuck in the Kawhi Leonard mode, thinking about his style of play. They need to move on.

Brian Wright is lucky as he can use the excuse "well... if we drafted well, we would not have been able to draft Wemby" excuse. Literally Wemby somewhat justifies bad draft picks, since choosing these picks did give us a chance to land generational talent. Here is my grades for past 4 drafts 20-21 (Vassell / Tre) : B 21-22 (Primo/Wieskamp) : F - 22-23 (Sochan/Branham/Wesley) : C - 23-24 (Wemby/Sissoko) : A+ 24-25 (Castle/Nunez/Ingram) : TBD Vassell was actually not a bad pick considering we had White and Murray at that time and they were going to be our future. Only Haliburton and Maxey really stand out after Vassell; with Murray and White onboard, it did not make sense to draft either of them. Sochan is a solid pick as he is more versatile than Duren and fits better with Wemby. Of course, Jalen is a better choice Sochan, but he is still a pretty solid for 9th pick. Even if you have to do over again, Sochan will likely be 6-7 range. Problem with this draft was drafting both Malaki and Westly, guards when we have more than enough guards. Should have combined two picks to trade up. For Castle draft, choice of Castle was solid as he provides what we need other than the scoring; What I don't like on this one is drafting Dillingham and trading it away. Could have use that pick to trade down to pick up Knecht. This was one of the worst drafts in the NBA history and top 1-3 are doing not that great either. Only weakness Castle has so far is shooting.

Well... I already said it multiple times. I'm fan of the Spurs, but not really of the new GM. You could say Pop and RC Buford have their say on those draft picks too... If it's true, then they're outdated with this NBA era who require SHOOTING from every player. Shooting is not enough of course, but it's a basic every player need (at least for the first round picks)

Devin was picked 12th in a draft where most of the players ahead of him were busts and during COVID. I think that shows how good our drafting is. Remember we haven't been doing this for a decade of losing. We had 12th, 9th, 1st, 4th. That's horrible compared to these rebuilding Detroit/Wizards that blow their top draft pick almost every year

His first draft was solid. Devin untill this year has shown signs of being a capable No. 2; It is hard to understand what is different this year other than having a legit point but even before this, he can't stay healthy. I say B The 2nd draft absolute F- and the sad thing is it was predictable. No one even knew who Primo was before the Spurs took him. 3rd draft B, it's still mostly flashes due to injuries and playing out of position, but he is at least a great defensive piece and is a factor on the team winning. 4th draft A+ regardless of what happens with Cisoko. And Castle makes up for trading away the 8th pick. But only so far as I am willing to give him a B because I think he messed up trading Furphy for a guy who might not even choose to play in the NBA. So he wasted two picks as far as things look right now. Overall I would give him a C+. The things he has done right were obvious moves that anyone would make even Devin as far as the rest of his class would be drafted higher in a redraft. It's when he tries to be the smartest man in basketball that he goes wrong. I love all the draft capitol he has acquired for the Spurs with his moves but he is doing too much and needs to keep things simple. I actually think if Castle is put back in the starting lineup he would look a lot smarter. I know people point to Sochan but the Spurs were winning without him. It was when they put Castle on the bench and limited his minutes that things have really gone sideways.

I wanted us to get Sengun soooo bad. His tape was awesome and it obviously translated to the pros. Everytime i see a Rockets highlight from him its like a double punch in the gut. More trauma surrounding that draft, everytime I see Primo's face im reminded of watching Kendrick Perkins laughing at us live after we reached for him. I was so pissed.

Haliburton was also on a bad shooting slump the first 15 games of the season. Just shooting 36% from the field and 29% from three point line. To say the 2020 draft wasn't that good because Vassell is now on a shooting slump and we could have Haliburton is a liitle bit unfair. Haliburton is the better player for sure. But drafting Vassell and Jones was a good draft. We drafted Jones in the second round. So for me he was a steal. A lot of second round picks are out of the league after 1 or 2 years. For me he did a good job on Draft nights. Just the 2021 draft is a Desaster. But no one had an idea what is wrong with Primos "Mindset" I think. I think also a lot of fans are a little bit to critical with the team and especially with some Players right now. We are not in a hurry. Give the Team still time to develop and give the GM and the Coaching staff the time to find out which players are working besides Wemby. The Spurs don't want to compete now.

I was hoping Primo panned out, but only cuz I trusted the Spurs saw something I hadn't. No pun. It was perplexing to draft a project so high. Sochan was surprising as well. I still hold out hope for him in Spurs system.

I give him a C- overall for draft and D for free agent moves. The guy didn't have anything to work with early, middle round picks, always hard to work with, so can't blame him for those picks, but the free agents and trades he has made. I don't want to hear we have 35+ draft picks from now until 2031, yes 35, because he needs to do something with those now, w can't possibly use them all, he's actually doing a disservice to most of them draft picks if we didn't trade, we don't have roster space or time to develop, I'd be pissed if I was drafted by them in a year where we have 4+ picks total, I know I wouldn't be getting any playing time. But Brian has done nothing to build around Wemby. The Chris Paul move was good, but very short sighted, I was not on that boat, I'd rather develop the talent we have by getting them minutes, I'd rather have Castle, Wesley getting them minutes. That's my rant!

Devin is supposed to be the Robin to Wemby, at few times he was. He's consistently inconsistent and perhaps his injuries been running at the back of his head - he's just too passive for a highest paid Spur. Haliburton would have been really nice! Tre is no shooter hes biggest flaw. Primo was Spurs biggest mistake should have gotten Sengun. Jeremy was and still perfect for Spurs. Hes doing many things. Malaki just regressed its sa same since hes just not getting the minutes now. Blake is a defensive but again non shooter. I give Brian a C+ but mostly because at the time seems they didnt know how to go about rebuilding the team. Wemby need shooters and ballers. Brian need a lot of work to do or else Wemby might be wasted in the Spurs

about *Draft 2022* - I clearly disagree on Sochan. He was taken way to high! If you want a bad shooter in the lottery, at least take an elite defender! Sochan is just above league average on D! (he can switch a lot but he do an average job defending them) When you had *Tari Eason* (at #17) 6'6.75" with a crazy 7'2" wingspan, who is one of the best defender in the NBA (he'll probably finish this season in the 2nd all defensive team) About Sochan, his 2 first season in the NBA, he was in fact a negative on defense, if you check his D metrics (2023 -0.8 / 2024 -0.5 / NOW +0.4), so you could say he's improving, but being Y3 just above average on D is not enough , when you can't shoot!

But (except for 👽) Brian nearly always draft guys 6'5" or less, so Trey Murphy III, a fine defender with good shooting at 6'7.5" (with 7' wingspan) had no chance to be taken by him. 😮‍💨 Sochan at 6'8" was the exception but he fit the mold: a guy who CAN'T SHOOT!

Brian Wright is a great trademans, but a horrible drafter. The isue is brian and pop currently treat this mens profesional team like a college program. This a mens league we need to draft dogs and players ready to play not taking 3-5 years to develop.

Brian Wright is good at one thing and one thing only...acquiring assets. That was great when we were tanking but when it comes to acquiring TALENT, he sucks. His drafting sucks. Despite having multiple first round picks the last few years, we still don't have a clear # 2 on this team. That was NEVER the case back in the day. We could find gems with late first round picks. Now with high to mid round picks we get mediocre. The only real free agent signing that was good was Chris Paul. And let's be honest, that had alot to do with Pop being here. As far as trading talent here, there really was only one, Harrison Barnes. And that was a trade that other teams needed to include us to make other trades happen and Barnes was just a give away. He basically fell into our laps. Brian Wright has really done nothing to improve the product on the floor night in and night out. All he's done is compile draft picks.

The problem with the Spurs is that they get into that mode of drafting players who look and play alike. They don't stray too far from that formula and now they are predictable, with predictable play. Teams are prepared for them. The only one they can't prepare for is Wemby. But, if they would have traded up to get Donovan Clingan, they would have a different style of twin towers. Unpredictable. For example, Cleveland has an array of different players with different skills and talent. But they put it all together using team ball, to skyrocket to the top of the league. Nobody really knows how to guard them. They can change and be chameleons. I warned about this type of player selection long ago. I like Castle but he brings nothing new to this team. He is predictable. The draft is coming and now the Spurs are interested in two players who again, are predictable in Saraf and McNeeley. Two guys who will not move the needle for the Spurs. We need to get rid of Brian Wright. He's useless in his insight. I say package the first two draft picks for a prime time player. Time to get an impact player to help Wemby. Otherwise, more 500 play from a average predictable team for the next 3 yrs.

On 2022 I want the Spurs to draft Nikola Jovic so bad with those 2 late 1st rounders. Instead B.Wrong drafted 2 small guards, one a totally none shooter and a totally none defender.
