Man I was fighting it I wanted to switch the game off a couple of times! You missed a great end of the 3rd & blowout 4th! We needed to spank The Lakers, they are on the decline and we needed this one to build out mentality against The Lakers. Now we know we can win, just need to play our game!

Being in the game last night when the Lakers were ahead and to watch the Spurs just flip the switch like that was just truly impressive. It really started with Tre Jones’s energy and Steph Castle, who is SUCH a good defender in person, watching him zig and zag and fight over and around screens and repeatedly take it in the paint, his physically putting pressure on the Lakers interior was a just a marvel. He needs starter-level minutes! But then the secret weapon that won them the game was an adjustment the Spurs made in the 4th deciding to use Harrison Barnes in the post. Whether it was CP3 or Mitch, the moment they started posting Barnes, who always had a smaller guy from the switch, like Christie or Reeves, the Lakers were beaten. Took pressure off Wemby, off Devin, CP3 made some incredible crosscourt passes. Just overall, a great team win!

About Wemby being sometimes lethargic : he once said on french TV that moving his tall body was really painful. He said "my body tries to stop me moving every minute. My body is not build for athletic life"...He added that it is a permanent struggle to force himself to move during a match. People saying it's easier for him can't be farther from the truth.
@aspleen110213 күн бұрын
I'm sorry but you embroider a little too much. He did say how his body felt sometimes like having a bag of rock trying to run/jump, and it's to overcome that difficulty his everyday challenge, but he never said: "My body is not build for athletic life" (nor anything close to that). *Try to stick to the truth when you relay his french interview please.*

We are near there. Wemby at C(or PF), Sochan at PF(but also 6th man), Vassell and Castle(can be PG) at wings. All we really need now is a starting caliber 3D SF and DEPTH.

On paper, a Point to replace CP3 is important, but the boys are really versatile, so if we assume the 4 boys going forward, Wemby Sochan Vassell Castle Any player who can shoot well can fit just right in. Wouldn't mind getting a stretch 4 or 5 just because sochan is kinda small.
@markv0013 күн бұрын
I think it's going to be a bit of a roller coaster the rest of the way. Hopefully not a lot of blowout losses like the Bucks game. We're only in year 2 of the Wemby rebuild, so our youth will show at times, and our growth will shine as well. A big part will be the big rodeo road trip, something like Feb 3rd through April 1st on the road. Regardless of the win/loss record on that trip, it usually changes our team for the better. And of course, when Pop comes back in some type of in person role, it will be great for the team. Castle is all business, like Timmy (but he has a little work to do on offense). We have 45 games left, I'm not sure where we'll be, but a .500 team would be a huge leap from last season! GSG!!!

Wemby, Castle Vassell and Sochan are our 4 future pieces. We need to add 2 more pieces though. A big athletic Power Forward, and a great 3pt shooter. We need either Vassell or Sochan coming off the bench fresh to fire us up when Wemby rests

It was a great game but still one game. By the end of January, we should have a better idea of this team. They need to fight EVERY game. When one player has a rough night, someone else needs to step up. This is what playoff teams do. And I still feel they need to make a trade for an upgrade at backup center, if one can be had reasonably. That need is not going away.

@aspleen110213 күн бұрын
Kispert is not the guy... he's one of the worst defender in the NBA! (ranked #6 in fact) even Malaki 'TankMaster' Branham do a little better (ranked #7) are you fan of the Wizards? wanting to get rid of a bust? Valančiūnas is washed... can't shoot from 3P anymore still a bad defender, way to slow... Only thing he have over Zach Collins is his rebounding... Again you looks like a Wizards fan trying to get rid of his worst players on the roster...

Probably better with champagnie instead of sochan while looking for. Still believe he's not the 4th starter but best at 6th. If we get the other champagnie, it would be like one person is playing the whole game. I think castle is the borderline star we need that people put Vassell at. Like the 2014 championship team, our new TP is castle, and Vassell is our green. What we need is Kawhi and Tiago splitter. Sochan isn't splitter but the Ginobili. I'm still hoping Bassey is our splitter.
@tribalypredisposed13 күн бұрын
Lakers are not a better than average team, they have played a weak SOS so far and have scored fewer points than their opponents. Spurs are a rapidly improving team still, especially Castle, and will be better as the season goes on. I am sticking with my pick preseason for Spurs to finish in 6th.

3 guys over 20Pts. That help a lot when Wemby is not alone doing all the work! (still I'd prefer him to have the most FG, even when Devin is on Fire) Devin 'rollercoaster' Vassell is up the hill atm... for how long?

Not totally agree with you this time. Wemby had a very average game (7 pts in second half) but he was very efficient. He didn't force his game yesterday... Castle continues to impress me. Even if his shooting is horrible this season, he brought an elite defense and very efficient drives yesterday. I definitely think that, if he manages to develop a reliable jumpshot in the next three years, he has the caliber of an allstar ! Vassel has shown yesterday what we expect from him this season : aggressivity to the rim and efficient 3-point shooting. Let's wait for several games to see if he is coming back to not. I am still concerned about his stats in Q4 in general btw... The Spurs definitely miss Sochan. He has clearly step-up this year with his rebounding and a good efficiency at 2-point. He should score a double-double 15-10 every night in the future and take care of the best player defensively. But, what makes the difference last night are our two vets : CP3 and Barnes. CP3 understood what would bring us the win : "Reeves is awful defensively. Let's target him !!". Instead of choosing to play offense with Wemby, he started to organize post-ups with the only player in the roster capable to drive this play efficiently (Barnes) to punish the mismatch with Reeves. Coupled with a very good defense, this tactic just killed the Lakers. (I don't want to give ideas to other teams but to punish the Lakers in Q4, target Reeves !!!) What we need in the Spurs roster for the moment is not trading for an allstar but replacing our "never developped" young players (Malaki, Blake, Sidy, Tree,...) by very good 3&D vets. Just look at what the Pistons are managing to perform with Malik Beasley, Tobias Harris, Simone Fontecchio and Tim Hardaway Jr... To attract them, we have plenty of 2nd round picks that we won't use for sure (the team won't be able to develop players anymore, especially second round picks which are real bets on future). Let's bring Yabusélé, Alexander-Walker,... for example and a backup center !!! Why not trading our multiple first round picks for a top-5 pick this year ? The Spurs cannot block spots for multiple rookies next year. We need better vets in the roster !! Or let's draft junior/senior players (able to impact right now) such as Maxime Raynaud from Stanford with our second round pick or Alex Karaban with our latest first round pick.
@TSRSports5013 күн бұрын
Question is, would someone in the top 5 be willing to trade their pick? 🤷♂️
