Rookies don't start for the Spurs usually and he got to start immediately and you can see him get better every game. I think by the end of the year you see a completely different level of Castle, similar to how Wemby's rookie year went

@aroag428 Nah I hate box score watchers...Slow foot movement(specifically vertically, even a problem on defense sometimes), struggles to get up the floor at times, behind the plays consistently, can't create a shot to save his life...Yeah I've watched enough of him to know exactly where he's at at this stage. Not saying he's not a great rookie and won't be a great player but as of now as a scorer he is not close to where Castle is therefore Castles grade should be higher given Castles incredible defensive presence he's brought to the Spurs. A top 10 team in defense(like 28th last year) in large part due to him, not just Wemby. I should have specified scorer because yes Clingan is a game changer on offense too with his offensive rebounding/second chance points, space he creates, and even playmakimg at times. B- imo though. At the VERY least A- for Castle.

Trust me you should go on spurs message boards and read how all the players get roasted, particularly zach collins, but when it comes to castle we've all been witness to his maturity and the level of talent he has brought to the team when he gets to start the game. While Sarr has some head scratching bad moments offensively sometimes, when he's going you can see how lethal of a 2 way big he can be in the future if he gets more consistent with his shot selection

I told the Spurs to draft Edey with their 8th pick -- can you imagine playing him along side Wemby? What a nightmare for teams trying to go inside the paint. San Antonio didn't listen and traded their 8th pick to the Wolves. Very smart of the Grizz to grab him.

Zacch doesn't get as many minutes as some of the other guys do and he's had two great games against cleveland. His real only downsides rn is his shooting efficiency and his skinny frame but he'll grow into himself soon and I believe he'll be one of the best 3 and D wings in the entire league.

Sarr with better grade than Ris is tragedy. He looks awful, hes not a good defender by any means. Looks like a grade based on basic statline, not eye test or advanced metrics. He's two years away from being two years away of being good player. Another Wiseman in the league

Risacher is horrible lol. Hes only had one good game while sarr changes this entire defense. You clearly dont watch the games. Sarr is an extremely switchable big, his only downfall is his rim protection is somewhat questionable. His offense is entirely a coaching problem. His defensive downfall are also to be taken with a grain of salt as he is on the worst team ITL. Risacher was drafted into a good scenario and is still horrible.

Cody Williams needs the G league and weight room quite clearly… his brother was nowhere near NBA ready at the same age either. I don’t think he will come anywhere close to JDub ever but the late bloomer genes are clearly a thing hopefully with more time he finds his footing in the league. Some guys are just late bloomers physically Dalton Knecht at 20 was like 3 inches shorter and way skinnier than he is now

Rissacher is way better than what his stats say, watched him live yesterday and he does a lot of different things very well. He moves without the ball extremely well, is a willing jump shooter, and is so good defensively. He doesn’t try to force shots or do anything that he can’t, he’s going to be a start

STEPHON CASTLE is more like Nate McMillan than Jrue Holiday, and he's clearly underrated here (see other comments below), BUT I sort of understand why. Players in his mould go under the radar historically; he'll be on multiple "All Defensive" teams, be the 3rd or 4th scorer in the rotation, while efficiently contributing to both team defence and ball movement on offence. Maybe we SHOULD celebrate that kind of team-glue defensive elite player, but we almost never do. Both Holiday and White on the Celtics are beginning to draw the spotlight, for similar reasons, but they're the exception, and Holiday is more suited to highlight-material than Castle. So, expect a solid but mostly forgotten career (like McMillan).

Only an idiot would have had Reed Shephard as a runner for ROTY. We all knew that he would barely get minutes with how incredibly deep the Rockets are. If I were going to give him a grade thus far it would be either a B- or C+. Just the fact that he is playing somewhat while Cam Whitmore is relegated to the G league is a testament to his ability to play within Ime Idoka's defensive schemes. My only knock so far is his hesitancy to shoot (which, ironically enough, is what he was primarily drafted for). I really did not have high hopes for him making a splash at all his rookie season. The real test of time is how he plays the latter half of the season and next. If he gets the confidence, and assurance that he does belong in the NBA, he can really be a great contributor to the Rockets' next man up philosophy.

It depends what they can get for Green. The problem was they shouldn't have drafted him at #2. Mobley, Barnes and Wagner all much better players. Even Suggs is looking better than Green and maybe Kuminga has passed him, too. Very inefficient and doesn't seem to improve. Dimwits love him because he makes a couple spectacular dunks every other game but that's not winning basketball.
