@bobataco210 their best pickup was a prospect who they only traded for because he's the little brother of their division rivals best player💀 this deadline was essentially an admission by NY that they're merely the little brothers to Atlanta... to the point that they're now signing the little brothers of Atlanta's players.

Although the Nationals should have made more moves, some of the players who they were 100% going to trade were injured (Carl Edwards Jr, Hunter Harvey). Other players like Corey Dickerson and Dom Smith simply didn’t have any value, and Lane Thomas and Kyle Finnegan had high asking prices that weren’t met, so although it wasn’t a great deadline, the Nats weren’t given a great starting point either.
@kyleholtzen6739

Royals were in a similar spot. They traded about everyone they could have, for pretty much expected value. Maybe if the Salvador Perez to Miami trade didn't fall through, but he is the fan favorite and wouldn't have enough value to justify trading him unless the return was great.

That D for the Red Sox is generous to me, and that's from a Red Sox fan. With all the injuries in the rotation, they desperately needed starting pitching at the deadline, and Chaim Bloom did nothing to address that weakness. I know that Chris Sale, Garrett Whitlock and Tanner Houck will be back at some point but the team can't count on them staying healthy once they return (especially Sale).

The Giants are weird in that they're a platoon team who feels like they're in the late parts of a rebuild. Like they are competitive but they don't have any studs that feel like long term faces of the franchise and a bunch of rookies coming up with flashes but who need to develop (Pat Bailey in particular who looked amazing to start but has regressed). Trade deadline is often for the big short team deals and this team doesn't have a core that feels like making a big push now will really give them a big long term reward. The optimist in me says they're looking to make a big splash in free agency and dont want to tie themselves up for a 2023 push. The pessimist in me says they looked at their free agency last year resulting in negative WAR and just dont have it in em right now so they're not really trying as hard as they could to make moves, or even just that Zaidi just doesnt got it. We'll see. If this team is competitive as they are now I can be a bit optimistic, but at some point they're gonna have to make a serious move.

Oh and Jackson Holliday and Heston Kjerstad will both be in the majors. I fully expect the Orioles to acquire an ace this offseason either via FA or Corbin Burnes trade

As a Mets Fan , I agreed with making trades for Scherzer, Robertson & Canha and getting back some very talented players for them that are really only 1 yr away maybe 2 from being a part of this team. We still have Alonso a HR machine in the worst HR Park in the majors and McNeil has batted over .300 for the season 4 or 5 times leading the league last yr even though this yr was not good, but the weather in NY was not the type that gets guys in their 20’s & 30’s excited to play in. Nimmo is always a steady contributor, down this year, but still reliable. What I do Not like abt the Mets, is Verlander, at his age, the bottom of his foot has already flattened out and he has continued to show he can dominate a game. Many players when their foot flattens out in the early to mid 30’s, they lose what they once had, but not Verlander. I would’ve kept him and gone after Ohtani and have that nice 1 - 2 top of the pitching order for next yr. The Mets haven’t had a Top of the Batting order leadoff Batter that can aggressively run the bases since Jose Reyes, we miss that leadoff, the A’s have one that I would’ve made moves for. I feel the Mets should’ve been both buyers & sellers at the deadline. I still like Peterson and I’m not completely sold on Senga but I have no issues with them being in the 3-5 in the pitching order. The Mets are still close to being a playoff team that could scare some teams in another yr or two, but Lindor being in the Top 5 spots in the batting order is the biggest issue, that is the one thing that needs to change or the Mets will continue to fail.

I disagree with the evaluation of the Tigers. Besides E-Rod and Lorenzen the Tigers didn’t have many assets worth trading. Baez is an unreadable asset. You aren’t trading Tork, Greene, Kerry or any of the young pitching, and the only other veteran assets was Jake Rodgers. I think that they went in with the vision of trading E-Rod and Lorenzen, and they got what they wanted, and got screwed by the opt out. Especially since they traded for an infielder which is their biggest position of need.

Brewers were very under the radar, I knew they didn't need much because the guys they needed weren't big position guys We needed a better DH than Winker, done with either Canha or Santana a better 1st basemen, again Canha or Santana can do that some lefty relief help, no closer/starters necessary, got that with Chafin a low budget deadline that could do wonders because the Brewers made a smart move in calling up Frelick who had a monster debut Yelich finally looks back to normal Weimer is underrated Turang is young but shows promise our catchers as Foolish Baseball loves to joke about, are cheat codes only Willy and 3rd base are the biggest ?'s so far going down the stretch, Willy Adames has been struggling as of late and Monastario is not a long term solution at 3rd, Anderson is back but i'm not sure if he's the answer either. I don't think the Brewers will go anywhere even if we do somehow make the playoffs, but next year shows promise if Chourio makes it and when Mitchell comes back. Wiemer, Frelick, Mitchell, and Chourio? Put Yeli on DH and whoooooooooo boi!

I liked the Mets' investment in youth. It's overdue and speaks to a new direction for this club. We have almost never seen this team succeed without a major youth movement, witness 1969, 1973, 1984-86 and 2015. The only time they had postseason success without one is 1999-2000, and that can be debated. It's not Legos, or the Yankees. You have to build this team to succeed.

As a Yankees fan, I agree with your take. Cashman shit the bed and rolled around in it. He needs to go.

You mentioned you didn't know why the A's didn't trade Brett Rooker. It is his rookie season, and April showed he has the stuff to be a power hitter in the majors, but the rest of the season has shown that he isn't quite there yet. The A's are also fielding Estuary Ruiz, who is one of the best rookies this year, when healthy. The A's are a cheap team that plans for their players to be good so that they can be competitive when they are in their 4th and 5th seasons in the majors so that they are cheap. The A's are planning to have a big season or 2 in Las Vegas once the stadium deal there is done. This is the main reason why the A's haven't really sold anyone, they are looking for the 2026 and 2027 seasons to be a power house team with maybe 1 "big" free agent and a couple decent 8-9 year vets with a couple rookies and the rest being 4-5 year players so that they can have a competitive team with a salary of around $80 million those 2 years. They see Brett Rooker as one of the key power hitters of the team in those 2 years and then will trade him at the dealine of either his 5th or 6th season to get the maximum value out of him, like they did with Donaldson, or Canha.

For only letting go of Paul Sewald I don't think the Mariners were Sellers but they also weren't buyers.
