I want to first say congratulations on achieving your 4th degree black belt. I was applauding you along with the rest for your special moment. The female instructor (your sister) who said' "It's a process' trust the process" is totally right even though i personally am not fan of the fact that martial arts takes way too long to master. It's cool that you have a martial arts family. I naturally picked up on the talent of martial arts when i was a kid by being self-taught from mimicking moves that I've seen on Tv/movies/video games but am not that good at martial arts and i haven't devoted my life to martial arts training even though i discovered my martial arts talent. Keep up the great work Silvana. By the way' you be would amazing in Cobra Kai. 🥋

I run on the treadmill for 3-3 and a half miles and I spar on Saturdays. I’m more worn out sparring for 10 minutes than I do on the treadmill. Lol

So, I know nothing about this but is the part where you use weapons like a Kata? Are you supposed to go as fast as you can? Or is there a rhythm that everyone should be following?

So in Kung Fu there are forms (like a kata) that utilize weapons. In general there is pacing and rhythm that is taught and often altered slightly for performance if you compete with those forms. But in the context of a grading when we are running these forms the pacing becomes as fast, proper and clean as you can possibly perform them.

Not a stupid question at all! It's in Kung Fu! It's a 4th level black sash ☺️ my sister mentions it before giving it to me, which might have been confusing, because we are wearing belts not sashes. Long story short the cost of sashes is simply not affordable where we live and we are such a competitive school in martial arts tournaments (often Karate run) so we adopted belts instead.

I have deduced that you are 30, yet you look 23-24. I started Karate when I was 8 years old (I do a Japanese style called Shotokan). I now have 30 years in the sport and Hold a black belt third dan. I stopped grading in 2010. I now do it for fitness and train my own kids who are all girls.
