Grading my Driveway with A Simplicity Sunstar Tractor~ Making A Snow Plow into a Dozer-Will it Work?

Can a Snow Plow work as a Dozer Blade with a Few Modifications?

@@TheNovaJohn yep. That's normally how it works. Any of those old Cubs, John Deeres, Simplicity, Massey, and etc are good machines. However just like cordless tools, once you pick a brand you are stuck as you accumulate implements for them.

Arch we recently had a customer show up with a lawn tractor that he had installed a blade on the front that he used for grading his driveway and moving around a pile of stone. Basically he had broken on the welds on the back end of the frame where the transmission mounts to. Other shops had turned down the repair but Jake realigned everything using drift pins in the plate steel and had to straighten out a few panels then weld everything back together. It is now a usable or saleable riding mower with cutting deck attached. We told him to remove the blade assembly since this lawn tractor was no built to handle that type of heavy load. It looks like your unit is able to handle this type of work in slow stages.

I'm not surprised you guys took the job,, for many reasons. Your son is eager, building his skillset in yards not feet! The challenge and maybe the desire to help customers. This is how skills are won and deserved! This is a big tractor, it may have had a blade option. there are 2 PTO's front and rear. The front axel is 2 pieces or very heavy cast that articulate like a car or truck, the frame is huge. Its considered a compact tractor. It weighs 1050 lbs with the cutting deck as per spec. It does need more weight and eventually I will make a weight box for the rear. 200lbs is recommended. Its a little light for dozing jobs but when I get some sand and gravel it will have no trouble moving that. Your right, slow and steady because its still light compared to anything else that we might use professionally. It still needs work, the beauty of it is it works while I'm using it and repairing it! How often do we get machines that do that?

The pro's don't like it but back dragging with that front blade works well after you have the material loose. Those valves on the hydro have O rings under them, easy to replace.

Yea,,I think its for the tranny release rod on another machine, I dont have that but I got the buttons! Eventually I will go over these,.they don't leak much yet

I have the same basic Simplicity rig. Mine is older, 1970's. Technically, back in the 70's this blade was called a "dozer blade." That's what it was called when new. We both need to make those angle iron wheel chains for better grip. Snow chains alone don't really get it for the dozer thing.

Yea,,good idea! Well, I hope I don't need to use the chains this year but just to be safe I'm getting out the Snow Thrower for it as well! That will eventually be on the channel too, I need to hook it up, clean it up and see if it works! Thanks fer watchi'n!

I love this video I have same tractor 16 HP and i love him but i’m looking for this attachment same one like yours i can leveled soil and other stuff , but i don’t know which one they fitt for my tractor if u are available to help me little how i can find which is attachment like this one they fitt please

The ground is too hard for a light rig such as this. Use a ripper to cut a few inches into the hard pack before dozing. It should be fine for loose dirt.

Again, why? The tractor is a bit light for the task, why not leave the deck for extra weight?

I don't have wheel weights, money is tight. Almost had a set last season but that deal fell through as NO snow means No money! I made a quick weight box and loaded a heavy old generator carcass, took the deck off and loaded the snow thrower but no snow.

@@TheNovaJohn you can fill the tires with windshield washer fluid and that and the valve needed won’t break the bank and find wheel weights off season I am not ranking on your set up by leaving the deck on is not good for it plus it is easy to remove on a simplicity is very simple Leaving it in during the winter is not good for the deck
