Good job. You played it safe by using only 3 Options so as to not deal with the Option Hunter, that's always interesting. It's scary too. Trying to recover during the Zub Rush always kills me. I can never completely recover from that point sometimes.

Best in the series? Or does that honor belong to Gradius V?

22 years old... You are pretty young to be clearing a game like that

Holy moly, was I ever doing the gunwall the worst way possible. I figured about as much seeing as how most of my Gradius experience predates my earliest relevant clears. Trying to just breeze through the later portions of this game with no planning was a bad idea in hindsight. I've been meaning to return to Gradius and this era of shmups in general, but Dangun has done a damn good job holding me back from grabbing some less nasty clears, but hopefully I can finish with that before the end of the month. My opinion of Konami is kind of limited to Gradius/Parodius and a handful of Juno First credits, do you have much of an opinion on the other Konami shmups from this time?

I think most of the first loop of this game is pretty doable with minimal planning and just a bit of practice. The gunwall and Club are by far the most likely to trip you up. The gunwall isn't actually hard, you just have to realize that sitting close to the turrets is much safer than it looks. That got me at least twice, as I no-missed all the way to the gunwall and then got psyched out and died there. For Club, I don't have advice other than to memorize when it's safe to go under the legs. I haven't played much Konami besides Gradius and Parodius, but Xexex is pretty cool.
