What did you major in at Waterloo? I went there as well. I did psychology. I believe that would be the perfect fit for the counselling program. I actually know someone from undergrad in psychology who went to OISE for it. I myself went to OISE for a Bed. U of T attracts the best, but unfortunately OISE is really PC. I'm not sure I'd want to go back.

Hi! This video was so informative! Thank you!! I'm considering my Masters in Counselling Psychology at Oise UofT OR Yorkville University (online program). You mentioned that you learned more from your classmates than your teachers at Oise. Did you find that you were doing a lot of research and studying on your own? Did you feel the classes/lectures benefitted your learning or you could have done all of this online as well?

Hi, i have 2 friends who completed the same program at Yorkville and they too have been successful once completing their program. OISE does look good on your resume though and i find it beneficial in terms of making connections and networking within the field. Everything was taught by other students in all my classes so its still a teach it myself type of program in my opinion. With that being said, yes i could've done this program online just fine, however i am happy i chose t do the in class route. i hope this answer helps you and good luck!

I am looking into Oise UofT, Yorkville and recently started thinking about Social Work (MSW) as I see so many jobs for MSW than Counselling Psychology so I wanted to know your experience as I want to make sure I make the right decision. Hi! I hope you're going to respond with this comment. I am currently a 2nd year psychology student here in Philippines. I'm studying in a prestigious university here (one of the top 10), MSU- Iligan Institute of Technology. I understand that our education system is quite far from Canada. I just wanted to ask if there is a possibility for me to take my Masters Degree in the field of Clinical Psychology and Counseling in UofT? How big is that possibility? What are the qualifications? Requirements? Tests that I will be taking? Thanks.

www.oise.utoronto.ca/aphd/UserFiles/File/CCP-CP_2016.pdf Hello Gerald, go to page 18 on the link above and you'd find the GPA requirements. Note, CCP requires the GRE so start preparing for that. You might also need to write IELTS or TOEFL for English Language proficiency. You'd need at least 2 letters of recommendations (LORs) for some programs 3 LORs; 2 academic and 1 professional. You're in your second year so start volunteering in research fields that you find interesting and if you know your population of interest i.e children, youth, adults or geriatrics, start working with them as well. Look up the professors in CCP and start matching your CV to meet their research interests so that when you apply, you are a perfect match for your professor of interest which = higher chances of being accepted. I don't advise that cos a professor's research focus might change. Ultimately, do what interests you and find a professor that does what you like, who knows, maybe outside UofT. You'd also need to write your personal statement and CV. Contact OISE and ask them if there's anything else you need especially because your undergraduate degree is outside Canada. You don't want to be blindsided last minute. It's really good that you are thinking about this now. I wish you the very best. Good luck!

Thanks you so much @toluwa adewole for that info. I just want to ask if UofT offers Graduate Programs which are related to Industrial/Organizational Psychology. I did research about there Grad Programs in Psych but I/O Psychology was not included. I want to pursue that field in case if it will be offered or it has been offered already but if not then I'll probably be in Clinical Psych. Thanks. :)

No, UofT doesn’t have graduate school in I/O psychology but I hope that doesn’t make you decide to pursue a career in Clinical Psychology at UofT when there are some other great schools in Canada that do offer I/O Psychology such as University of Waterloo, Western University, University of Calgary etc. Meanwhile, some schools have it under a different program and refer to it as Organizational Behaviour under Business or Management as opposed to Psychology. At Rotman School of Management in UofT, they have an Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management PhD program. I don’t know anything about it or how it relates to I/O psychology. You should look that up if you’re interested. However, remember that it only matters that you succeed and love what you do, not the name of the school.

Actually, I also kinda like Clinical Psychology(one of my dream profession is becoming a clinician) but I really need to be practical and I want to choose a career that I will really love, kinda easier, and in demand and that is I/O Psychology... yeah.. I feel a little bit sad cause UofT is one of my dream schools (hopefully they'll open I/O Psychology related programs soon, I'm still 2nd year and there are many things that can possibly happen in the future). Anyways, as what you've said there are lots of great university in Canada and those universities also has great standards I should still have to open my mind for a lot of possibilities.

Hi! I'm currently looking into this program and I really appreciate this video! It is super informative and specific to what I'm looking to do. I was wondering if there would be able way for you to send me a sample of a successful statement of intent. As the requirements are extremely vague I'm feeling pretty lost on where to get started with one. Additionally, I was wondering what sort of extra curricular activities you had on your resume.
