You're right never trust any form of government at all much less police without cameras. At the same time from my research I've also come to the conclusion that he is at least a decent sheriff. From what I could see him and his deputy's have stopped some really bad operations including major sex trafficking operations, and major drug busts. In conclusion I agree with you that they should have cameras because I personally don't trust any form of government period, and believe police officers should be mandated to wear cameras. That said, if you actually followed him at all, (I’ve watched him his entire career) he has explained in depth why he was resistant to them. He made many valid points, number one being with everyone having a cell phone with the ability to live stream that provides far better coverage than body cams would with no cost to the taxpayer. But, that is moot at this point.

Exactly, I work for a prison. The communities don’t want to fund prisons, plain and simple. They want everyone to go to jail, but they don’t want to fund them. You can’t have one without the other. Guess what?? ….lack of prison space makes legislators have to make hard choices. Throw the book at everyone, because you have to make constituents happy, but change the rules everywhere else so you don’t have to continue to fund or house these jokers. They can’t raise taxes right?? That would piss off the base. Yet the constitution states that combatants or prisoners must be treated humanely.
