It's illegal seizure before the search and if you don't want to call it seizure it would be theft period. The DEA shouldn't be getting alerts about any citizen purchase and the airline should be liable for releasing citizens information. Then when law enforcement commits crimes against citizens they must face prosecution. We the people are tired of government protecting government and walking all over the people that your hired to serve. This isn't a isolated incident it's a everyday occurrence illegal search using dogs for false alerting illegal seizure continuous violations of citizens rights by multiple agencies. This is why qualified immunity must be abolished and law enforcement held accountable for their actions. They enjoy causing undue hardship when you don't immediately concent and follow their orders,miss flights vehicles towed property seized unlawful arrest costing your employment planting drugs wrecking families. Then they hide the evidence of your innocents want release public records file false reports or no report at all. I thought i saw him send a command down the leash. So i moved up so i could hear what they told the driver. They told the driver the dog was trained to detect people that were hidden and that the k9 alert on his car. They searched the car found nothing and wrote it off as there had been people hidden but they got out of the vehicle and were hiking around the check point. 3 years later i was called as a witness for the defense. The driver won the case. For those who tried to call me a sellout. I didn't take a dime from that case or any other case i do it because you clowns are corupt and what you are doing is immoral.

We were taught, and we were constantly getting updated training and always taught that we had to have articable reasonable suspicion of a crime at foot and a specific charge. No dragent type of thing ever. If we knew such and not following our teaching, we had zero immunity as it was In bad faith. We were liable in both capacities, personnel, and officially alike. Some old cops always try to tell rookies how to get around this CONSTITUTIONAL THING....its not a thing.. it's the Supreme law of the land in which we are sworn by oath to obey and gauretee. I'd love to be interviewed by this channels investigative team. I say follow the law, or your ass goes to jail. Especially for cops as it's a betrayal of the oath of office and you know better. They do this for raises, upgrade in rank and special status among their peers and management alike.

This is exactly why I retired early and ceased flying on commercial air carriers. The job I left involved couriering parts and components to, then performing time-sensitive repairs on very expensive, critical equipment for my employer. This impropriety displayed here cost my company a small fortune with delay, fees, and lost revenue, and me a lot of frustration and embarrassment culminating in these incentivized agents insisting the replacement component I was carrying was definitely a destructive device (though clearly tagged and documented as not). The company (who does, and did a great deal of business with the gov't and the military, especially) intervened, getting me out of the handcuffs and the detention room. After returning from that mission, a resignation soon followed and a vow to never to participate in this farce again. Thanks for your investigative work with this.

This is not a practice confined to airports. Civil asset forfieture happens on highways as well when the police search vehicles during routine traffic stops. It's a dirty little secret that the police are confiscating money without cause and once they get the feds involved it almost impossible for people to get that cash back because it costs so much to retain an attorney. The Institute for Justice deserves alot of credit for representing the man with the tow truck. Without their assistance he probably would not have been able to get his money back.

So a cops can just beat up a pregnant woman and not be charged?
@divindave6117Күн бұрын
The sad part about all of this, is that Congress has long known that people were being unconstitutionally searched and were having their money seized without any suspicion of a crime. It's not just in airports. Its in bus stations, on the side of the road during a traffic stop, in parking lots, in hotel lobbies, etc. 100s of millions of dollars have been taken by "law enforcement". Civil Asset Forfeiture needs to stop and law enforcement training needs to highlight constitutional rights.

If money is carried on the person in pockets or money belt can cops still stop, frisk, confiscate cash without probable cause or such?
@JohnDoe-qz1qlКүн бұрын
They “can”, they’d be violating your constitutional rights. Civil Asset Forfeiture is just semantics. The 4th Amendment protects *your* person, papers, houses and effects from unreasonable searches and seizures, BUT it’s an undertaking to sue the govt. THAT’S why they do it. If they take $10,000 from you, how much do you think the attorney fees will be?? $30K??

I’m from South Africa and our public hospitals are a danger to society. Private hospitals are glorified hotels. One swab of cottonwool is charged for. Our government, a former terrorist organisation is corrupt to the core. Our police force is corrupt. The people are suffering. Infrastructure has fallen apart, there is no service delivery. It’s become a shithole country just like the United States .

You weren't even free in your own country until 1999 😂 the idea of south Africa acting like other countries are bad with the worst civil rights violations and apartheid until nearly frickin 2000 because you let it be run by racist colonizers. Doesn't feel great does it?
