Met graham at a meet n greet couple of years ago in glasgow, was so overwhelmed,i lifted him up off the ground in a bear hug,he took it completely in the spirit it was given.A true leader takes responsibility and all that comes with that.Back in those days you had to take care of yourself and your slighter teamates.love the man.Soooooooness, simply thee best!¿

Great chat Graham. Always a pleasure to listen Souness talk. One of my favourite players ever (and I am Italian). Gave me the best day in football by lifting the European Cup v "them"...

I can remember the Jack Charlton Middlesbrough, standing on the Holgate End cheering them on. When Souness was recalling the players, Stuart Boam, Willie Maddren, Frank Spraggon, David Mills, Spike, Jim Platt, Terry Cooper, John Hickton. Remember when he was leaving Boro for Liverpool and there was a number who made that journey after him. Sadly i cannot remember him specifically playing at Ayresome Park but followed his progress with Liverpool. What a player, I remember one tackle against Eastern European Club in European Cup where he slid in and punched the guy in the jaw. When he scored it was the nod of his head and one finger in the air. The way he could completly control a game time and time again, he made Liverpool tick, he was an unbelievable player.

Guys name was movilla, souness was remembered for a fallout with Jimmy Case when he was playing for Boro, Craig Johnstone overheard Jack Charlton saying to get rid of the Aussie lad, it's what drove him on to be the best that he could.

That Scotland back then often didn't qualify for a major tournament with players like Souness, Dalglish, McAllister, St.John, Nicol, Hansen, Bremner, Lennox at one time or another is a mystery to me.

To be fair, they only failed to qualify 1966 and 1970. They qualified from 1979 to 1990 including some of those players you mentioned (1994 DNQ). 1998 qualified, but unfortunately they haven't qualified since then, although I think they have a good chance for Qatar. The auld enemy haven't done that better when you consider it the motherland of football. DNQ 1974, 1978 and 1994. They only qualified '66 as hosts and '70 as holders. So I wouldn't call that a good record.
