It's really our choice over the next few decades as to how we respond. If we want to be prisoners of technology, that is certainly a possibility. But I doubt it will happen - because we can also make different choices that lead to a better world, using technology.

@@graemecodrington Obviously technology can help us, but it’s the kind of technological determinism that seems to be being released. Some of the technology raises profound philosophical questions, especially moves towards transhumanism. It’s clear that very powerful elites actually want this, most especially The World Economic Forum. People may become superhuman (their expression), and efficient, which might be nice, but this does involve value judgments. It looks like we are heading for technocracy and population reduction. The Georgia Stones suggest a population of five hundred million and this figure is repeated in other sources. It’s been said that the deeper you do research into these matters the more bonkers you will appear to others.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution is steeped in promising terms and concepts, like _sustainable development,_ _equality,_ _green energy_ and _revolutionary technology_ but really, it all amounts to one thing: keeping this outdated and unsustainable (and at this point indefensible) economic model alive, when we could easily create a post-scarcity model. One not built on profit and competition but on working together and building products to last, rather than to fail. The ride is over, boys and girls. There is no selling this bs to anyone whose done even a modicum of research on the subject.

Good comments here. It seems that the people who least understand capitalism are in a bubble spouting techno-babble to themselves. I have worked in manufacturing for 50 years and seen its gradual development. But I.T and A.I. cannot exist without manufacturing. It cannot exist on it own outside the material world where things are made and people earn money by making them. This Mother Of All Bubbles will burst when no one can buy their dreams. It is of no surprise that this alienation exists. The current mode of capialist production is being destroyed by Finance Capitalism where money comes from nowhere. And from this mode of production an Elite Idiocracy has been born to support it . And not by accident as the World Bank, the Green New Deal and population reduction are themes promulgated by them: the elite bankers, Rockefellers et al. The 4th industrial revolution is nothing but the destruction of capitalism.

A good explanation of the basic principles behind the revolution paints a nice picture. But I am not that enthusiastic about the whole techno thing for a number of reasons: 1. there are not a lot of alternative approaches in the mainstream discourse that are truly taken seriously, it is a one-way discourse most of the time. For example, we intend to invest billions of dollars into inventing carbon capture technology, yet any talk of systematical reforestation is not taken seriously. Just one example of how we tend to look at technology as our savior and shy away from nature, mostly because of unconscious fears 2. any technology is just an externalization and amplification of the body-mind machine and yet it is glorified more than the flesh and blood and the Earth we are made of 3. the money behind the techno industry is gigantic and distributed among 2000 people more or less. You connect the other dots 4. there is a huge potential that the technological revolution will be a totalitarian one, not in principle, on the surface it does present good values, but underneath it will not leave a lot of space, if any, for those who do not want to be connected to the grid, like me. The same dynamic was present with Covid when most people were blackmailed to get a vaccine to keep their jobs. 5. no one wants to really let AI loose. Why? Because if it is truly intelligent and gets its data from clean, unbiased sources, to sustain itself it will have to adjust and surrender to the larger cosmic reality, as we do. Then, and only then will be able to live with it properly. Since we are still on a quite low and exclusive level of consciousness, my guess is that "AI" will be an extension of the wealthy few and used as a totalitarian tool to control and rule humans and Earth, for transhumanist agendas which are but a small stupid brother of cosmic consciousness. Any totalitarian is afraid of intelligence in any way, and AI that is not monitored in any way is a threat to the establishment. We are and will be served a narrative that AI is great and this and that, but all along it will not be AI completely, it will be a slave of a few and hence make us slaves as technology is making us. 6. there have never been more mental disbalances, anxiety, depression, pharma drug abuse, loss of boundaries, technology addictions, digital dementia, and loss of respect for anything like now. Every civilization that was on Earth reached a certain level of development, became arrogant, decadent, and descended into chaos because of inner struggles and outer impulses. We are at this point now and the use of technology without consciousness might just accelerate the whole thing 7. On one hand, it empowers us, on the other it disempowers us. We are now capable of a lot o things we were not before, but also we are rapidly becoming degenerates and incapable retards in ways unimaginable. So yeah it is a boon as it is a curse in the same manner. Our senses have degenerated, and our bodies have become weak because we do not use them anymore because of the comforts of technology. 8. it is being idolized and any idolization by default is bound to disappoint itself the same way any tyranny is bound to fail since it is a failure from the start 9. the techno narrative is being run on fear, guilt and control, the same way the religious one has been run for millennia. The techno narrative is in essence anti-religious as one can see mostly in the music industry. In its anti-religiousness, it is religious but can not percieve that. A typical example of the concept of the Jungian shadow. Both have missed the point, as electricity has first been the devil and now is revered as a god. Science has become unquestionable, especially at the beginning of the Covid era. Does that remind you of dogmatic priests? This is one of the dynamics I am sensing are happening on a major scale 10. to rely on technology in the manner we are doing now and will do even more in the future is dangerous because of cosmic impacts. If the Sun just farts a stronger electromagnetic pulse, the whole system is fried just like this and then we descend into absolute chaos since more the 50 % of the people can not grow their own food since they live in cities. A Mad Max scenario truly is possible. 11. Technology will never replace emotions, feeling, intuition, the juices of life, creativity, nurturing, hiking, camping, etc 12. it is a tool that is not alive but has its own consciousness and as such can not truly know what the needs of life are if not surrendered to life and we still want to conquer life with technology out of fear of life meaning for a while, until we surrender and until it surrenders to life we will fight and struggle on a global scale 13. it is and always will be a part of the whole cosmos and consciousness and as such suspect to its demands and changes 14. the "green" technological revolution is run by human slaves in many places. The battery industry is run on cobalt mined in Congo by 10-year-old slaves. Where is the glory in that? And yet, we can build efficient car batteries from hemp that is even better than the ones we use. The whole industry is built on the mentality of replaceability, of no fixing things, not making things durable, and on hiding the fact that every man in the west is connected indirectly to at least 60 slaves, meaning the whole system is not humane and not compassionate and that is s the starting point of the "revolution" meaning the whole thing will be painted in slavery, misery, abuse, and totalitarianism but presented as green, wholesome, the future, progressive etc. To conclude, the techno narrative is full of deceptions on so many levels and we need to be careful not to fall into old traps in different packages. Also, there is much more I could say about this topic but I deem this enough to counter argument the fake enthusiasm being built by the ones that will mercilessly profit the most out of the 4th industrial revolution. And technology will never, I mean never, be able to replace life as such, the feeling of aliveness and of consciousness.

@AmbitiousLearnWithGeorge
@AmbitiousLearnWithGeorge 4 жыл бұрын
hi, after spending some time on this..went through numerous books, videos, presentations on this topic...The examples UBER,AIRBNB, etc are kinda a step towards that direction (as the current information revolution serves as a informational resource generating era for the 4th IR - this resource will be fully utilised by the smart/intelligent machines and AI systems)...in this comparison ,it will be fully 4th IR if UBER has a fleet of selfdriving cars that communicate via 5G networks, book themselves for service and repairs..self organise for charging, even plan out the chargin network and order/pay for the neccessary expansion works with no or little human input. 5G internet is crutial to the smart/intelligent industry where an entire industry will support the needs of one individual (you will place an order an the means of production will rearrange themselves automatically and intelligently to produce what you demanded in real time - no intramediaries,no delays, no wastage -smart/intelligent/interconnected machines working together within a smart environment...hopefully supporting human life to reach it's fullest potential). Blockchain is a 4th industrial revolution technology that in combination with super broad band width of the 5g networks allows incomprehensible quantities of data to flow between smat systems and intelligent machines. Humans ,in all of this, are the ones who should be having fun...as at some point there won't be anything a human can do (same like nobody will today ask you to deliver a package on foot, walking from eastcoast to westcoast...you've got trains+plains+cars doing the carrying and human foot speed capacity can't compete, Another example would be factories where today the speed of production is faster than the human eye can capture, Same with computing skills where pretty standard computer calculations that take about 1 milisecond for your graphics card to compute a human would need 3000 lifetimes to calculate. With these new intelligent machines it will be the same level of superiority. The smart machines and systems will plan/program/organise/ create things and concepts on scales to us humans incomprehensible...pretty soon these things will start making music, movies, food, medicine, organise our cities, energy production,distribution and consumption..and so on). Obviously the uptake is slow to begin with as first substancial investment and restructuralisation is needed, so deon't expect that your next dentist appointment will be an AI injecting a paste to regrow a new tooth...it's probably still going to be a human witha a drill in their hand. But as the trend goes to show, the evolution of this progression should be faster than was the case with the last revolution same as the last IR was seing faster evolution of progression than the previous one before it with dizzying amounts of variability in products/goods/services and lowering prices (i.e. abundance I hope this helped

it is not the "best explanation ever" ,I think that is mainly cos you missed the main point right from the start - industrial revolution = replacement of human work with machines and technological systems and improving efficiency of that work. That is why, for example, the incorporation of animal work force into human work systems was never concidered anything else then agricultural revolution...where horse,ox and donkey power was utilised for the servitude of men. Interestingly enough, neither were windmills as their main use remained in agriculture and land reclamation. Not an industrial use there yet.

I think a good/productive and helpful way looking at it could be through the distribution of jobs and industries within the economies also at products proportions of the economy throughout each epoch. In other words, if you want to help people to understand better where it is next headed it is best to look at what were people doing for money and what products was the economy producing. Talking about 1.Coal, 2. Petrol, 3.Information, 4.Intelligence (powered machines and industries) is not really helping a person watching this understand and recognise the progression curve and where it is taking us all..

after spending some time on this..went through numerous books, videos, presentations on this topic...The examples UBER,AIRBNB, etc are kinda a step towards that direction...it will be fully 4th IR if UBER had a fleet of selfdriving cars that communicate via 5G networks, book themselves for service and repairs..self organise for charging, even plan out the chargin network and order/pay for the neccessary expansion works with no or little human input. But as the trend goes to show, the evolution of this progression should be faster than was the case with the last revolution same as the last IR was seing faster evolution of progression than the previous one before it with dizzying amounts of variability in products/goods/services and lowering prices (i.e. abundance)

So many incorrect pieces of information makes this video quite useless. The first steam engines in Cornwall were NOT invented to help get more coal, they were to extract water from the tin mines. Ford was not the first example of mass production and assembly

@@graemecodrington What? 🤣 Wtf kind of a comeback was that? Talk about a generic ad hominem. 🙄 A lot of people want to use their real name online as little as possible. What’s wrong with that? It’s made all the more smarter when the system you’re describing wants to use what you say and your past against you. 💁🏼‍♂️ Also cosplaying? Not quite, it’s a username. O.o It has literally nothing to do with what I said. I bet if somebody challenged you in person you’d jump right to attacking their personal appearance etc rather than actually talking about what they challenged you on. You’d make a great politician buddy. But you’ll just be another common man under this system. Be under no illusion, you’ll suffer with everyone else.

Poor understanding of the Industrial Revolution and Second Industrial Revolution. Wikipedia articles on these is very good, if I do say so myself because I wrote most of them. See also the Wikipedia article on Economic History of the United States. Third Industrial Revolution was really about widespread electrification and internal combustion transportation coupled with a national highway system. Fourth Industrial Revolution is not at all about industry and needs a new name, like cheap computing and communications revolution.

Ted Kaczynski was right, this is a nightmare. Progress for the sake of progress leads to some dark places. You should be careful shilling this stuff. I have no problem thinking for myself, I don’t need to outsource my mental faculty to a robot. This isn’t in line with human nature and it will ultimately fail. If they try and push this stuff too hard, however, it will get ugly.
