Great job, Dom! I hope the graft takes this time 🤞. Definitely a good idea to use the seedling Mexicola as a rootstock 👍 I've not had the best success rate with avocado grafting so far, especially with the London ones (Julienne). I'm not sure if it's just my lack of grafting skills or if avocados are just a bit more difficult to get to take compared with say citrus for example 🤔. Probably just me 😂

I think avov's are probably slightly harder to graft than citrus, at least judging by my attempts. I'm going to blame my tools 😂 I definetly need to invest in a knife sharpening kit. I've been using dull knives in the kitchen my whole life but when it comes to a dull grafting knife, something MUST be done. Yes, I hope this Julienne scion takes ... that an expensive seedling to waste if it doesn't but the risk / reward ratio is worth it, I think. I want to get a few Mexicola seeds. I'm loving that smell of the aniseed from the crushed leaves. Reminds me of 'BlackJack' 1p sweets I ate as a kid.

Fabulous Job Dominic. I am so surprised that the Julienne scion remained in good condition for so long. I now have two P4P avocados that I aim to graft scions on at least one of them. Do you have any reliable contacts for importing Avocado scions in the UK?

@@MoebiusUK Haha, yeah we could always blame our tools 😂. I got some whetstones for the purpose of sharpening my grafting knife, but I've yet to have a go at using them lol 😂 I hope I come across a reliable source of Mexicola seeds sometime. I know at least one person (at least claiming to be) selling them, but they were quite pricey. Oh yeah, I remember those sweets too. Although I must admit I preferred the fruit salad ones lol 🤣

@@myexoticfoodplants6727 Hey Mike, I can share details of where I got a few of mine from (Reed, Lamb Hass and Fuerte), although I'm not sure if they are currently still available. Also in time, I'd be happy to send you scions from my grafted trees and also the Julienne if I can keep them alive long enough lol 😂. I'll happily do the same for Dom too.

@@PeterEntwistle That would be much appreciated Peter. I have bought all the gear for grafting and will be practising the cuts on hedges grown nearby to my house 🤣

I'm also shocked how long that scion lasted. Seems possible it almost took when you grafted it and was getting some sap from the rootstock. Perhaps it was knocked loose by the wind or excess rain got inside the grafting tape and stopped it from healing fully.......

Yes, I do think it may have been getting something from the rootstock .... You're right about rain spoiling the graft, when I removed the parafilm at the graft union it was wet and a little sludgey. It was a poor attempt at a grafting to be honest. For the last 3 weeks I kept the scion in a plastic cup with 2cn of water at the bottom. Hoping it will take now,
