I truly don't know how anyone could thumb-down/ dislike this video, unless they're a complete "Hater" and just jealous in their own lack of ability.. Jake is like the Bob Ross of Reefing/ reef tank keeping;) Straight-up! Go hate on that one!! Even after my 36yrs of Reefing, I learn or catch something new every time! And yes I'd also like to shadow him for a day to catch what I could;)

Love that you name the scientific names. How about doing a bit more of deep dive with each genus and species of corals and show a few variants of each. Where they are from. Best parameters and placement in tanks etc.

The tank is looking so nice Jake! Any advice on keeping tangs healthy? I have a yellow that basically lost most of his fins. Not sure if it was a water quality or nutrition problem. I have seen tangs look very rough in the best tanks out there. They will have 10 that look perfect and another with messed up fins. It’s almost like it s the weak one that doesn’t get enough nutrients or something.

Is the "top" piece that you glue onto the "encrusted base piece" relying on that base piece for anything nutrients or chemical or...? and visa versa...? Or is it just glueing two pieces together, but they continue to live separate lives :-) I love the look, and the idea of mixing matching could get wild.

Definitely was really fun to watch, a few cringe moments though as in my mind I saw chopping off the "nice" piece and then letting what was left color back up and regrow rather than taking the middle chunk out and slap the two ends back together. I also felt a bit relieved with the Milka stylo too... in that I don't have to deal with gluing all those frags/chunks to frag plugs, but I will say you're lucky to have a LFS handy that will happily take those frags for store credit, around these parts we couldn't give those away to our reef club members which in its way is a good problem but not if you're trying to give away frags to people.

I’ve never watched a vid like this and I know nothing about reefs, corals or saltwater fish, but I really enjoyed your presentation! Probably a stupid question but… What is the “glue” you used and how does it set underwater?

Jake, are you still using gyre flow? Also, how long is your photo period? Tanks look great and like you said... Every coral becomes a pest over time 😛
@ReefBuildersVideo3 жыл бұрын
Gyre flow is a natural thing to do and consider for the flow in ALL my tanks - period ranges on tanks between 8-13 hours depending on the corals and lights un that tank
