I hope to see a follow-up on this. And I would be very interested in doing some experimenting with this graft too. I grafted several varieties of eggplant to Solanum Torvum, and had the best success with Ping Tung, and had that as a 7' eggplant tree for about 6 years. It just bit the dust, but did well for us. Now I'm getting ready to do more of those grafts. I'll do a video on that on my channel.

Went to see the Doc today regarding potential thumb surgery. He wanted to know why it was so extended--said I was over using it. I Told him I would cut back if "Pete didn't keep putting out all these awesome video's daily !!" 😂😁😊🤗 Seriously, great soft tissue grafting demo !! Just a simple thing like wrapping the budwood or scion in parafilm FIRST but leaving a portion the terminal bud free, is a great tip ! :) Following Josh's technique was easy :) I had obtained "dwarf" tomatillo seeds from Baker's Creek last yr, but haven't grown it yet. Seems like everyone has a different take on tree tomato's--heard that they often may taste a little better as the plant ages or better accesses nutrients. I don't think we quite have the nematode problem here out west (?) with these particulars plants, but truly don't have enough experience to say definitively.

Whats up Pete! I love the h.e.a.r.t. vids, the work they do there is so important! Do you carry naranjilla? I've been iso naranjilla for a while after reading about them in my rare fruit book.

Have you tried grafting onto some native Solanum? They’re very resistant to nematodes and heat. However, most native solanum are poisonous, and I wonder how that might affect the graft.
@Nicholas.Tsagkos4 жыл бұрын
ppl graft egg plant and tomato to s.torvum s.chrysotrichium and other solanum species. But these are the safest choices, they are tested and safe.

This is technically a form of natural genetic engineering (GMO). Doing this over many many times can transfer DNA and lead to the possibility of a new species of plant. This has been done for millenia without farmers even realizing what exactly they are doing.
@IdiotF0ol4 жыл бұрын
No, that’s not how genetics works.
