Hey Richard, Nice Video! I would like to have your expert opinion on something. I have been growing an unknown(to me) variety of dragonfruit on my balcony for a few years now and now it finally flowed and beared fruit. However it grows only one fruit at a time and it doesn't get to become big enough... Am I doing something wrong?
@Ascension17763 ай бұрын
Any idea why the dragonfruit would flower and then the bud and all fall off? There were small ants on it but I figured I may need another dragonfruit to pollinate the flower? a separate plant or was it too hot?
@GraftingDragonFruit3 ай бұрын
There could be various factors. You may need to cross pollinate with another variety, there was not enough nutrients/energy for the plant to sustain, too hot, etc.
@Nulmay243 ай бұрын
It could be due to rain, over heat, lack of micro nutrients, ants and so on. But inspite satisfying all favourable conditions some buds will drop. Its natural. Dragon fruits on stored energy. As the plant grows and matures more buds will come. Again some will remain and some fall off. Less than 5% of the stored energy is lost. The remaining 95% will give you fruits.

Hey Richard Can u tell me about Asunta 5 ventura? Is it realy existing or not? Thank you ❤

Now I'm wondering if A5 is a good fruit to start with.
@GraftingDragonFruit3 ай бұрын
I recommend you should start with a self-fertile + self-pollinator if you are new as it'll be easier to grow and get fruits.

Hello Richard......,I still want to buy 2- cutting of Sour patch kid...if you have it. Thank you
@GraftingDragonFruit3 ай бұрын
I don’t have any available at the moment but get on my email list on the website for the next announcement

You can find those at the lolly isle, sour worms, gummies etc :) :) :) Oh is that a actual name for a Dragon fruit? (Just a bad attempt at humor from me) Have a great day!
Does the earthy flavor resemble prickly pear cactus? I would be interested to hear a comparison between the two as they are both cactus.

I haven't eaten a prickly pear cactus in a long time so I don't quite remember how they taste exactly

15 is not a good brix score. Should be 18 or more. Some varieties like Zindu give 21 and more.
@GraftingDragonFruit3 ай бұрын
Not necessarily. A lower brix score doesn’t mean it’s not good. Depends on the varieties. Brix score just measures potential sweetness
@Nulmay243 ай бұрын
@@GraftingDragonFruit All fruits are characteristic by its sweetness and flavour. Brix value plays an important role at commercial level.
@GraftingDragonFruit3 ай бұрын
Commercially is different because they have to usually harvest fruits early. Brix doesn’t always give you the full range of flavor complexity. Brix only measure sugar content
@Nulmay243 ай бұрын
@@GraftingDragonFruit Yes. That's true. So obviously domestically grown fruits should have a higher brix value. That's what exactly I meant saying 15 is not a good brix score. The same variety when grown fully organic will give a better brix value.
