I'm pretty sure that, despite appearances in concerts, he's actually introverted - it always comes out in interviews, and when I see videos of him in bigger groups he often hangs more at the edges, does more listening than talking. So he needed a bit of time to settle down, get to know the others and the atmosphere of the group. Once they start joking around and go "save us!" about the phobias, he finds his groove and gets going. (Honestly, as an introvert, I really liked the "save us!", it felt like a cue from someone who gets it.)

Graham's show is loosely scripted, in that his guests do know what's coming. Some are better actors than others so we don’t notice. My thinking is that bc Bruce is not an actor and a bit older (I'm also older, the memory needs a jog every now and then argh) so the prompts sometimes appear more noticeable.

@@ksc743 i don't know if this happens in graham but usually there's a pre interview with a member of the prodution team so they have some clue but i don't beilieve they know the exact questions. Plus graham's team is great at research and graham is great at picking up reactions

@@ruthanabi I haven't missed a Graham Norton show since its inception. I think he's the best thing since sliced bread😍 But the guests do know beforehand what most of the questions to them will be. It makes them fell more relaxed. No nasty surprises. Most of the guests are actors, so they seamlessly transition into their stories. For eg, he'll say: "oh, Gary, wasn't it you who went to Spain and..." and Gary will pick the story up from there. Graham then interjects with humour and draws the other guests in to tie it all together. He does it so cleverly, and also is so quick if someone makes a bit of a gaffe, that we barely notice. Graham is definitely the best talk show host that I've ever had the pleasure to be entertained by. And so funny too. He always makes me lol😂
