As someone who is currently struggling with severe anxiety, when coach talks about when he had health problems and the fear of dying started to overwhelm him, I can totally relate. It “rocked him to his core” He talks about his fear. Very courageous.

Love his honesty, his openness, his willingness to be vulnerable and his ability to take responsibility for everything around him. He’s going out on a limb to bring awareness to the struggles of life that are effecting people in all walks of life. He loves his kids/ players and his own, family is important and the very best future for his players is top priority. Not taking the Lakers job was the best decision he’ll ever make. His passion for teaching and mentoring these young kids is where he’s meant to be.

While the NBA is something that may or may not happen, I see him as the coach of team USA like Coach K. He would do great in FIBA basketball. UConn plays a very similar style. In CT, Hurley is literally the king of the state.

She’s a saint. She was with him when he was struggling and is definitely not a gold digger. Hurley’s predecessor at UConn dealt with some of that after his championship and he was never the same.

I love Dan and respect how open he is. But part of me thinks too it's unhealthy for kids to be pushed into playing basketball or sports so much. Because part of Dan has always seemed kind of miserable despite his accomplishments.
@garywagner24662 ай бұрын
I will never fully understand the American obsession with college sports. So much money involved, it’s staggering. How can some of these programs afford to pay a coach $50 million dollars when students have massive loans to get their degrees? Loans that take years to pay off. Military personnel struggle to make ends meet and you are paying one dude $50 million just to coach kids how to throw a ball through a hoop.

With the entrance of a 7'9" player in the college game , should not the NCAA rule that any touching of a 3 pointer shot be goal tending , on the way up as well as on the way down?

Will end up an all time great coach. But as a player? Get real with yourself. You are 6'2 and shot under 30% 3pt. Awful efficiency for career. There was no predraft process for you.
@TrippyTexas2 ай бұрын
He also played in a time where the 3pt shot is not what it is today. I agree that he just wasn’t a good player, but pinning it on something that was almost irrelevant back then is dumb
@loganbaltau3862 ай бұрын
@@TrippyTexas it’s not dumb at all. They didn’t shoot volume 3s, but guards were still expected to shoot an efficient percentage. Especially at that size. if you want to act knowledgeable, then refer to his FG% instead of his 3pt%. There was never a time that wasn’t a value
@ppk3552 ай бұрын
@@loganbaltau386 for someone pretending to act knowledgeable, you sure do have a primitive view of efficiency. Efficiency is less about the percentage you shoot, but rather how many points you generate per shot. Now, it’s not to say Dan was the most efficient player ever. He struggled from 3 and from 2, but his free throw rate picked up his efficiency quite a bit, especially his senior year. So given the fact he averaged 14 and 5 on Seton Hall with decent efficiency his senior year (and is from the Hurley family), it’s safe to say he probably had a pre-draft process. Hope this helps
@loganbaltau3862 ай бұрын
@@ppk355 all of this is incorrect. Efficiency is absolutely measured by percentages, in addition to shot value. To think percentage isn’t part of the equation shows you are not knowledgeable . You can’t shoot a bad FG and 3pt but have an average FT and consider that efficient. Btw, I’m a coach. Hope this helps
@ppk3552 ай бұрын
@@loganbaltau386Alright, answer this then. If I play a game and shoot 1-4 from 2, 1-4 from 3, but 25-30 from the free throw line, did I have an efficient game? This should prove my point. And by the way, it has nothing to do with basketball or being a basketball coach. It’s simple statistics buddy
