Hi Graham, I think this is the best method and so clearly explained by you (Including the ‘mistakes’ is so comforting!). May I suggest that if you tin the pickup spring on the bench, before fitting, you would only need to bring the soldering iron in close proximity to the wonderfully detailed coach twice to complete the two wiring connections? The stay alive board is so useful and neatly installed and as for the interior detailing I’m just blown away and fully expected the passenger to turn the page of the newspaper!Congrats on reaching 10K subscribers. I’m so fortunate to be in that number having found your channel in the last six months. Thanks for all your skill, care and attention to detail that brings your layout and videos to life. You are such a great ambassador for our hobby. Best Regards, Tony

Hi Graham, having used these springs for my coaches I found a fault problem. I didn't put the springs on the right way round i.e.the long bit that you solder to was on the insulated wheel side. This caused a short as it went along. It took a little while to suss it out but eventually I saw it, turned the spring around and now no probs. They are a brilliant idea. Congrats to DCC Concepts.

Terry Love Yes Terry, I should have made that clear on the video I guess but forgot all about it, the tang of the pick-up will rub up against the isolated wheel if they are on the wrong way round - as you found out. Cheers for now mate. ............Graham

Congratulations on hitting 10,000 subscribers Graham! Huge achievement and well deserved - I’ve been following for a few years now and your channel & layout keeps getting better and better. Great variety of videos, brilliant quality, fab content and all delivered in a really lovely way. Keep it up and here’s to the next 10,000!!

Orange Street Music Club Well thank you very much for those really lovely words sir and as always, they are greatly appreciated. I will hopefully continue for a long time yet and you never know, there maybe another 10,000 but I very much doubt it! 😂😂. Cheers for now my friend and thank you for your continued support. ............. Graham

Very nice Graham. I’ve done a few but they always flicker at least some. I finally gave up. I used the springs like you have from DCC concepts and their anti-flicker circuit. I have my DCC coaches to keep me company. Brilliant explanation of the process. Easy to understand and clear as a bell. Rob

Hi Graham. Really useful video for me as I'm almost finished on my station area, just got the lighting to do. But, there's not much point in lighting the station if I'll be running trains through that are in complete darkness (as if they're out of service). So been thinking of a way of lighting the trains and so far, this is my favourite. Great video, nicely explained too. Thanks Graham and all the best, Lee

Lee Whall Thank you very much Lee and as I said in the video, there are other ways to illuminate the coaches and I’ve used most of them but like you, I find these are the best for me but obviously not everyone’s cup of tea. Cheers for now buddy. .............Graham

The coaches interiors are beautiful, very nice work. Makes such a big difference. It would be fantastic to put a small camera inside to project onto your 30 inch monitor. Pointed towards the tables and the figures at a wide angle. So much fun to follow along with your progress. So much detail you want to show it off I would imagine. 10,000 nice job!

Mark Schumacher Putting a camera inside the coach is possible Mark as I have done it before although the clarity does suffer a bit though. Yes, 10,000 subs is amazing and something I never thought I would achieve - I still can’t believe it myself. Cheers for now mate. .............Graham

TRAM JUCTION MODEL RAILWAY Thank you Geoff, as I said in the video, this is not the only way of course, there’s a few other ways but I like this system for certain wheel sets with insulated wheels. Medway Peninsula Model Railway Thank you very much Kev, I did the detailing and lighting to those coaches a few years ago now so they are holding up well, I was never happy with my home made pick-ups though so I thought it was about time I corrected them. The 10k subscribers came round very quickly, still can’t believe I have managed to get to that magical number. 👍🏻. Cheers for now mate. ............. Graham

I use the ESU current collectors I got from LItchfield Station, part # 50707. For $8.95 + $4.99 shipping you get enough parts to do 8 axles. They mount underneath the bogies and have wipers for each axle. It's best to cut them apart and use one for picking up the positive voltage and goes through the lighting and returns back to the other bogie. Just have to remember that the wheels must have an insulated wheel on one axle on the right and the other must be on the left to avoid a direct short. I don't like taking wheel sets apart. Cheers from eastern TN

Another great video definitely a must for those new that want to put lights into their coaches. I couldn't trouble you for how to make and what components size wise I will need for the flicker free board. I have been buying them ready made and the cost soon mounts up compared to making your own. Regards

ROBS TRAINS Absolutely Rob which is why I made them myself even though I know next to nothing about electronics. I will have to open a coach up and see what the components are as regards values as I can’t remember what they are off the top of my head right now - I will come back to you and let you know. Cheers for now. ...........Graham

Firstly Graham, HUGE Congratulations on 10,000 subscribers - a massive achievement for a one-man home-based layout.👏👏👏 Railway modelling is, very much, a small niche market and channels like this are helping to make many more people aware of this hobby. I hope I can get this question to make sense - here goes: - do the wires from both bogies join up before they reach the p.c.b.? I'm guessing the power DOESN'T go in one bogie, through the lights, then out to the other bogie. I'm just trying to picture the wiring circuit. I'm thinking there are just two wires coming out of the p.c.b. which split into two sets of two, one pair to each bogie. Is that about right? Cheers for now, Dougie.
