In the context: …the heeling moments due to grain shift Mgy calculated assuming the standard void depth … and …the angle of heel due to grain shift qgy is not greater than 120 … I will appreciate your clarifying! The volume of wedge shifted x 2/3 of the breadth will give VHM in meter to the power 4. Now, the vessel's list must not increase more than 12 degrees or a smaller angle say deck edge immersion given by administration due to assumed shift of grain.

Take a divider. By trial & error method check, at what angle the distance between the GZ curve and (lambda 0 lambda 40 curve) is maximum.

Good day sir, one oral question by a surveyor is.... why the assumed angle of heel in grain stability criteria is 12 degree(to be specific why was this number chosen)??
