Glad the cameras worked. Gone are the days of finding good point and shoots in most thrift stores. Having something new to you can be quite energizing as you shoot the first rolls of film through them.

I'm actually a little surprised at how pleasant the image quality is on these 5 dollar cameras :). Great images! Proof that its the driver that matters, not the racecar. People are way too obsessed with having expensive cameras thinking they will turn them into "real" photographers.

So cool to find bargains that actually work. I think the weird sound you heard on the first camera may be that certain P&S cameras actually wind the entire roll onto the take-up spool, then gradually rewind the film back into the canister as you shoot.

For sure enjoyed the presentation. I love your bubbly style. Speaking for myself, from time to time, karma, luck, a fluke will pop up in the form of an ol' 'point and shoot' camera sitting on a shelf in a thrift shop, say Goodwill, that says purchase and reuse me. My favorite is an Olympus Infinity Stylus I purchased for $3.99 that ranks to hang out on the shelf with all my rangefinder cameras.

Those 80's-90's concept cameras where they just completely eschewed what a camera should look like and shoot like are wild. Cool that these two still work. Shooting old cars on the street is probably one of the safest things. The worst you're likely gonna get is the owner coming up and trying to tell you everything about it. A lot easier to explain than why you're taking a picture of an awning or such.

with the big camera, Don't worry about the frame counter, I shoot a hasselblad 500 C\M and the backs counter doesn't reset until the back is removed, as it sets back to S, so don't fret, be cool, calm and keep shooting. ( also on some cameras a 'warning' beep occurs, this alerts you to ONE shot Left on the roll, most point&shoots STOP altogether, aka nothing happens, until you operate the rewind switch, my mum's cannon P&S did that, Zip until it rewound, couldn't even close the lens (operate the cover/retraction mechanism).

That Olympus 300 or 330 maybe was my first camera, I bought it from Service Merchandise for around $240 or so, I loved it, I bought it because I was going to Jamaica and it didn’t disappoint! There’s a lens cap that doubles as a remote timer, generally when you find the camera second hand it’s not included! Did yours happen to come with one?

Wow, what fantastic finds… and for $5 each!! Every camera I see at thrift stores are absolute junk and are overpriced. Even if this cameras didn’t work, for $5 they would look great on a shelf. 😀

Those pictures turned out to be AMAZING! I was a little skeptical that those two cameras could take clear and sharp photos, but boy was I wrong! The Portra filmstock also makes a huge difference! Nice pictures. Those old cameras can still deliver. I bought an Olympus Stylus at a thrift store for $5 a number of years ago and it works fine but I don't use it often because shortly afterward I found another Stylus new in the box at a garage sale in my neighborhood. I paid a quarter for it, it's gold colored and has a data back. Sadly, I don't use that very much either as I really, really like my Konica Big Mini. Just a superb camera. I hope I don't offend but the opening shot with the baby stroller in the back seat started a little bit of a nostalgia trip into the past. Your pants just ramped it up to eleven for me. I'm 64, been married for 42 years and grew up in the 60's and 70's when pants exactly like that, down to the flaired legs, were everywhere. You reminded me of dating, kids, cramming strollers and diaper bags and picnic baskets into the back seat was a normal thing, along with cheap focus free point and shoot cameras, Tri-X and Kmart Focal film and getting really, really excited pulling the film out of the wash to see there were actually pictures on there! Damn, that video was a fun ride! Thanks! You're the groovy chick! 🙃

i found the Olympus Twin at a yard sale right by where i do groceries and it was only $2!! came with a nice lil bag too. i found that the tele lens had a focusing issue tho, not sure if you notice that on yours too. it's fine tho, because the wide lens works perfectly and that's what the camera defaults to when you power it up. anyway, it's a great sounding camera and i'm so glad i found it for that price!

Great shots and great cameras. It goes to show that you don't need a 4 or 5k Leica to make great shots. If you ever get a chance try out the Canon Film EOS Rebel series, any of them. They are awesome underrated cameras. You can get them extremely cheap and the results with a Canon prime are as good as my Contax G2 for a fraction of the price. Great video!

yes, some 'interact differently', when you turn it on, or press the shutter, sometimes you need to take a shot, this advances the 'loading' film, so that the fresh can be ready to shoot. this is all the noise is, the wind-on, Some other mf winder cameras do it too (hassleblad 500el (when winding) H1 with film backs, 503cw- with the winder, Rollieflex 3000/6008 integral) even the 35 Nikon F4/5 do this too, just a bit jumpy when they do.
