i don't know if this is by design or not, but your videos are very calming. you've created a very unique environment that's less about "let's get the craziest shot ever composed" and more about "here's how i do what i love." they're great to watch actively and listen to passively, and they've given me a lot of insight on my own process and ways to improve. honestly, it feels like talking with an old friend after being apart for a while. it's incredibly therapeutic.

All in all, the best photography vlog on KZbin. Minimal talking, tasteful music,relaxed pacing, deadpan self deprecating humor, unexpected answers to life's questions, and excellent demonstration of films and cameras. And an appropriate nod and obligatory middle finger to digital.

Love the Alabama Hills, although at 73, my trip next year will not include camping. The Lone Pine Best Western will have to substitute. I could duplicate your experience with my Galvin 6x9 view camera, using roll backs or 2x3 Grafmatic and some frozen (long expired 6x9 sheet) FP-4, but I'll use my Pentax 67 instead. My last trip there I passed a terrific twilight moon shot because my fellow traveler was bitching about skipping lunch and wanting dinner. My mistake, but it also cost my friend his sidekick status. I'll never do these trips with a non-photographer again.

I know advice is annoying, but I really suggest getting a 2-stop or even 3-stop soft transition neutral gradient. So much of the scenery out west needs taming of the top half of the shot. The GND filter probably saved more shots for my Mamiya 7II than anything besides remembering to take off the lens cap. Even the screw-ons work great with their fixed centerline (if it's a soft transition). But if you want the most control, there's nothing better than the Wine Country Camera system, followed (IMO) by the Breakthrough Photography setup, followed by the Lee system.
@ericpmoss5 жыл бұрын
I'd also get a good (!) circular polarizer for the cloudage and lake shots.
