Just watched a BBC documentary about him, I found it significant that Marty Stuart will call other singers by their first names but with Charley it was "Mr Pride" . A mark of respect.

Man! I loved Charly Pride from the moment he came on the scene in the 60's. What a fine, fine human being he was and with that great voice, he had to make it...and I listen to him all the time...also listen to his great friend and amazing guitar player, Glen Campbell! They are both gone now, sadly. We have their music, thank goodness. I could go on and on about Charly and others (he lived into his 80's and looked 20 years younger, he still could get up and do his performance. Incredible talent, so happy I saw it.

This is a well deserved award. However, I would say, that the best part is when he makes it pretty clear right away that he's not interested in making it a race issue. The man has a beautiful voice. He's a legend. I think this lady should have watched other interviews. A few years back he even put Oprah in her place. I think it's just wonderful when a MAN like Charley sets an example. Another favorite part is when he set the cut off at George Strait regarding when country music died.

Love Charley Pride. Does anyone remember the AMC or CMA when he won an award(can't remember for which, male or entertainer of the yr). Loretta Lynn was presenting it. They told her she wasn't aloud to touch him if he won. She thought they were crazy(award show people). Don't they realize you can't tell Loretta what she can or can't do! When he won, she ran to him, gave Charley a big hug and kissed him in her excitement for him. She didn't care he was a black man & neither did I. He was, still is, a great Country Music singer like the rest of them. I'm surprised Loretta didn't write a song about it. Lol. And yes, it can be found on KZbin .

Use to transport truck driver from Yellow. Road Way and a few other's Charle Pride was one of those singer's who would always stop ever one from talking when one of his songs came on the radio. The van would become quit as if you were in Sunday service. May artist never stop bringing music or art into this world for it would be a darker place with out them May god be with all those in pain at this time. And may you thank of him in life. I do not care what color he or anyone else is. He is just awesome. He has a wonderful voice and is just a great person. I hope that people today do not see things in color the way they use to. If someone deserves something, it does not matter what color they are. They should be appreciated for what they are doing and sharing with the world. God bless his family.

I'm 56 years old, grew up listening to Charlie Pride as a child, and my generation actually grew up with the MELTING POT mind set, and it was GREAT. As a young child in that era of MELTING POT mindset, with my parents more aware of the 60's civil rights than I was, I felt that I was in a better place, becasue they (My Parents) were UNLEARNING racism, while I never knew racism, until this NEW milenial generation came along and isolated color to different groups. They want us to SEE color, whereas I never did see color. And that is what MAKE AMERICA GREAT is all about...don't see color at all. So when I hear statements of "people of color; women of color", I want to PUKE, because that is not what I was raised with, and to me, Charlie Pride was not a man of color, but a great Country singer.
