Southampton's away kit here is virtually the same one that they wore in the 76 Cup Final - teams kept their kits for much longer then.

Jon Cole they only seemed to change their kits back then if they changed kit supplier, otherwise they would have the same kit for a few seasons.

Chelsea & Aston Villa were buggers for kit changes in the 80s. Newcastle kept a V necked Umbro kit for around 4 seasons, which was rare in the commercial-hungry 1980s

Great times of football on the box,...proper games played by proper players despite muddy bobbly pitches ,..they just got on with it,... no whingeing, or diving or VAR,....even the grounds had their own unique character, and identity,.....the 70s and 80s were great times

@callithowiseeit58065 жыл бұрын
I agree, plenty will leap to throw the racist card at you but you're right, not only has it ruined the game financially with daft fees creating a mercenary feel but also the quota system/affirmitve action has brought lesser talent in lowering standards of play just to tick boxes
@shen_baba4 жыл бұрын
So what you're saying is that foreigners ruined football? Bigotry comment
@andrewphippsphillips14554 жыл бұрын
@@shen_baba Bollocks and crap. If anything, the clubs have gone to such an extreme that there are NO British players in the top sides. It's bollocksing the National Sides of not just England but of the other 3 home nations. Scotland's PL was swamped with overseas players before it became a farcical one horse contest. Those to blame are the Premier League for only being interested in money and greedy player agents, overpricing English players, so that overseas players are recruited. Imported players should cost X10 the prices and drive the value of domestically based talent. Wages should be a fraction of the amounts these modern greedy bastards receive and the money should be pushed into schemes to help clubs involve their local communities again. Most of all, fat greedy club owners should be punished on financial irregularities or underfunding (think that Cockney **** Ashley for one example). The game will eventually die if something isn't done soon..... Bury FC will be followed by many others

What this season showed was the wasted potential of Tommy Doc's team, ruined by the original David Moyes. More creative and scoring power provided by Merlin and Pancho could have swung the title for us. Without that, that Liverpool team were way too good.
