Had to do that in the middle of a snow storm 7 years ago. Where is the alarm? Cant find my remote key after a move and need to get it to "continuously" run to sell it. umped the fuel pump so it seems like injectors get shut down. Tried the purple wire trick to no avail. Next step is to put it in the middle of the bon fire as i havnt driven it in the past 3 years

Most of that solder on the back probably migrated from the heat applied by the torch but the problem pins can't be fixed without removing the board from the case. Anyone doing the same should be sure to check the entire board for solder migration and fix any problem areas.

Could this be a possible fix for my Jeep not having a injector pulse on injector #1 I’ve check my injectors and the wires to it and everything checks out working well but still no pulse so I know it’s the computer hoping this fix will do it

Looks like a JTEC. I want to get a bench tune and am wondering if it might be wise to inspect the boards for bad solder joints before I send the PCM in? NOTE: I do motherboard repairs - if you drag a screwdriver across the tiniest traces, I repair them.

That was all good, but what was the problem that led to the disassembly and re-soldering of pins?
@AutoRepairTips5 жыл бұрын
Lou G It was a crank no start, that started with a dies in flight randomly.

@@AutoRepairTips same mine does after it gets hot. It loses 5v ref signals for the sensors. Crank no start after stalling.
@richgorsuch26674 жыл бұрын
Ashroyer86 Exactly the same problem here. I will be doing this soon to my GC to get it back on the road and dependable again. Too bad I threw $400 worth of sensors and other things at it first before doing some research on KZbin and finding this video. Lesson learned.

Should also test and replace those electrolytic capacitors there. Even though those are probably high quality caps that unit is probably 20 years or older and capacitors don't last forever. I would also replace that connector on the aluminum circuit board with wires that go directly from there to the main board. Just get some high temperature glue on them to anchor them down somewhere and they'll last longer than that connector. Fewer connectors fewer problems...
@10100rsn5 жыл бұрын
I have to say, it's not easy to get these apart. I had to cut the corners with a saw and peal it open with pliers and even then board was stuck solid to the metal. Heat alone didn't work out, not even in the oven. I used a long ink knife to get behind it, just heat it up and jam it through. Capacitors tested good, still above tolerance. Soldered wires between the two boards to bypass the connector, fixed a few broken traces along the way and it was good as new... Except for the metal can it came in. Had to seal it with rtv... But it works and better than before!

hi, those unsoldered pins could make my electric fan to work even on cold start and never stop?

Vimototv victor montes de oca probably not but I'm not sure. I would think a relay is stuck on or a wire shorted

A dirty throttle body can lead to symptoms. I wrapped electrical tape around a screw on the rear protruding from firewall body (possible grounding) and shortened the mount screws by 3-4 threads. I've also repaired the computers with success in this manner. VIN does not matter 96-98 GC.

Those bad solders are called "Cold Solder" joints. Caused in manufacturing when passing board through solder pool. Wasn't enough time in pool to heat the heavier pins to let solder bond, but was enough time for the smaller components to "flow".. This is a perfect example of SHITTY quality control rampant in American made cars of 70s 80s n 90s n 2000s.

If you know the problem; why not go to a salvage yard and look for that from another and remove it; of course it would be a 50/50 chance that it will work ; but the cost will be worth the chance---it will work & less the headache of trying to repair it yourself----but never the less that infor is good to know

Never touch a circuit board with your bare hands,.. not only are they dirty, but human oils getting on any circuits can cause them to overheat in time.. and these cheap circuits aren't even coated! lol... Stupid cheap ass Chrysler, using stupid cheap ass parts as always...or should I say FIAT! For a perma-fix, after fixing solder joints. I recommend cleaning the board with a circuit board cleaning solvent or demineralized water if you have no ventilation. Then use a circuit board coating, which comes in various forms that will be vibration proof, water proof, and short circuit proof. Which is how these boards should of been made in the first place. Final, never buy a GM or Chrysler/Fiat product, unless it's decades old..or prepare for all sorts of vehicle troubles in your future! lol Especially those companies! They don't care about making good products for the consumer anymore, just how much profit so they can climb the stock market ladder! It's all a game to them, and you're the losing chess pieces. ..and never buy a vehicle you want to last, with PLASTIC intake manifolds!,.. or you're out of your mind or have deep rich careless pockets!
