My Dad was born in Rifle. Grew up in Leadville and Glenwood Springs. I remember making that drive in December 1973. I was 15 years old. My family had become huge fans of John Denver. I kept telling my Dad I wanted to see this beautiful place he grew up and where JD lived. I grew up in the California desert. Anyway, we left a day or two after Christmas. I remember been amazed at the snow! I had never seen so much snow! It was like a fairyland all silver and white and misty. The Colorado River was amazing. We took the trip again in the summer of 1974 but we came in from the four corners area through Durango and Silverton. Oh my is Colorado a beautiful place! My Dad wants to see Glenwood Springs one more time. He’s 89, I’m an only child and Mom is gone now. I’m hoping I can make one last trip home for him next spring. 🙏❤️😊

Man, you had a perfect weather day for this trip. I personally love some puffy clouds when viewing scenery like this. The shadows on the mountains are wonderful to see.

I haven't made this drive in years but used to do it at least once a year for most of my life between Salt Lake and Denver. This part of Colorado is one of the prettiest. It feels majestic and yet also cozy and peaceful at the same time. Beautiful contrasting colors everywhere, and the Colorado river before it is a massive river.

AWESOME with a capital A! Lyin' Eyes is one of my favorite Eagles songs, in fact I like to listen to it while going down the road, just like you're doing now!!

Beautiful video! We were actually doing this exact drive less than a week ago (Monday)! I hope my footage is as good as yours is. The Beavertail tunnels are currently closed for repair, but the detour was amazing, albeit short.

A trek of 50,000 buses returning inner city Brooklyn, Bronx, and Detroit underprivileged kids back from Utah National Parks summer retreat along this route would be a start in re-bonding a divisive America.

Hello friend, I have a question for your recoding. How do you hold your camera hdr-pj540 in your car to recode the driving scene? I would appreciate if you can give me an answer...thanks.
