Grand finale | Unmissable cruising on the BCN | Navigating the Netherton Tunnel | Day 11

It is the Grand finale of the 12 Days to the Black Country Boating Festival series. On day 11 because we missed one. Ooops!
Today we leave Birmingham and travel along the BCN (Birmingham Canal Navigations) towards Dudley. We turn onto the Dudley No 2 Canal then go through the 6th longest tunnel - Netherton Tunnel.
The Boating Festival is tomorrow!! We will be selling Annamarie's art work from the boat between 10:00 - 17:00. You will find us between two bridges on the opposite side of the canal to the tents (we will post pictures on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram on Saturday morning). We hope you are able to come along and say hi if you are in the area.

Now living in Adelaide Australia and having been born in Birmingham, the past few daily bloggs have been brought back fond childhood memories of places along the Birmingham canal that I had spent fishing or riding my bike along the towpaths. I can remember the old barges being pulled along the canal by those beautiful horses. Thanks for sharing girls. Just loved the footage.

Super! I think this is the first positive video that I have seen about canal travel through Birmingham! Seems quite beautiful to me, such an old system that goes right through downtown, very intriguing! Hopefully as the city invests in cleanup and refurbishment the views will improve and pedestrians will feel compelled to spend more time enjoying the towpaths. The canal systems are a real treasure. 🍀

My nan & grandad lived in Tipton for a very long time, I grew up going to their house living just five feet from the canal. Me & my dad going fishing clock watching to see if trains were on time early or running late from the living room window.

I love Galton Bridge, though more for the sound of the name than the place. I used to change trains every day at Smethwick (pronounced 'Smerrik') Galton Bridge Station and I love the sound. It's as impressive as Ironbridge but mostly unknow and forgotten.

Loved every video, but this one is so good! All those different bridges blue brick, iron, to the modern concrete all beautiful in there own way. I dont know if you noticed the major fault to the keystone on the blue brick bridge at 1:45! For a brickwork arch to drop that much..........it would have caused some head aches at the time it happened! It was so good to see the excitement on Anna's face about Birmingham! ohhhhh! & Yes! I will miss your daily vlogs as I look forward to them each morning with my cup of tea, so a big yes to more in the future, although the BCN has a bad reputation and NB's trying to get through in one day it is such a shame, because I personaly find the architecture very interesting especialy the variety of bridges and it contrasts so strongly with the normal green and pleasant scenery you normaly show us, have a great festival, sell lots and lots and then enjoy a well earned rest. Oh and Anna's hair is lovely x.

Well done ladies and welcome to the Black Country. We came back off a cruise yesterday, (Saturday)our mooring in Hawne basin. We came down and had a wonder round but it looked like you had shut up shop so we went to the beer tent. If you fancy doing a proper old tunnel go up the arm towards Hawne and you will have to go through Gosty tunnel. I dare you!!! All the best and enjoy the BCN.

Birmingham City Centre is a great place and have made loads of the canal network (Brindley Place, The Mailbox). I live by the Cube so get to enjoy what the city and the canals have to offer - you should definitely spend some more time here :)

I do know its a lot of work to do your vlogs and you do it well. So as much as I enjoy them I am just going to say, do them when something comes up that is in need of a daily. Other than that I am happy if I get a weekly. But do post when you're done some of the fair. Good Luck. A narrow boat trip like yours would get me in a lot of trouble with hubby...cause I would want to stop way too much and look at and photograph everything.
