For over a decade, I had forgotten that SC2 existed. Then one month ago, you changed that. Your videos got me fully back into it. Like seriously, last time I checked into the pro scene, Idra was still rage-spamming "IMBA" in all chat, Huk was going to LAN events dressed in hoodies like a black-hat hacker, and Destiny was theory-crafting r-tard magnets; MarineKingPrime, Dongraegu, Stephano - those are some names I can remember. Yeah, it's been *that* long. Since then, I've seen casting all across the esports industry, from RL to OW to LoL to CSGO, and especially the wild, wonderful world of the FGC. Almost every scene had or has its gems, in the form of incredible commentators. Cool people, talking about the games they love. For the SC2 scene, you're one of those gems. You make this game fun to watch again. Hell, you make this game fun to *play* again. On behalf of any and all other YT frogs and lurkers, un-burrowed from the silent audience: Cheers mate. His consistency over the years shows in such a great match as this Hero shows what's possible in terms of mechanics and consistency so incredibly reliably over the years, even if the strategy and decision making is sometimes A-. Truly an awesome gamer.

The scary thing about Serral is that he’s always improving tactical wise. He used to struggle with Maru’s turtle mass ghost late game back in 2022, 1 year later he’s Maru’s father. Serral used to struggle with ZvZ match up in 2022, 1 year later he’s the all-father of ZvZ. I would not be surprise that Serral will solve this protoss mothership-tempest senanigans and put toss players back in their cave. The only way to beat Serral is to overwhelm him with speed, which, if you name is not Clem, good luck with that lol.

Struggeling against Zerg puts it pretty harshly... it was simply Serral's weakest match up. He still was the 2nd best "versus-Zerg-player" and had a better win rate versus Zerg than all other Pros overall😂

@@marcelbenner993for a player like Serral, any match up that he does not has 90% win rate in considered a struggle. If you want to win a tournament, you need to win multiple matches in a row, with either 1 chance or 0 chance of losing, meaning about 90% win rate. Being the 2nd best zvz player means he’s rolling the dice, and if that dice landed on Rogue, Ragnarok or Solar, then Serral is eliminated (back then). That kind of probability is not enough for Serral. Same thing now, if Serral roll the dice and landed on Clem, Serral is eliminated, but in this tournament, luckily, Clem is eliminated early. Again, that kind of lower win rate is simply not enough for Serral.

It was not the tgournament with the highest prize money, but the players were the best of the best. The 3 best Toss - MaxPax, Hero, Astrea The 2 best Terrans - Clem, Maru (no idea who is considered to be rank 3 atm) And 3 out of the 4 best Zerg - only Dark was missing. Insanely high skill - because even the players I did not mention are very high up in the rankings. That made the groups extremly interesting, because there were no "weak" players where you could be quite sure they would drop out. Incredible tournament, great fun to watch. And that the least known player - Lancer - takes out Maru is something you could not script better if you would make a tv show. Serral may struggle against Clem and even got destroyed by him a few times. But if you don't take a look at single events but at several years, there isn't even the shadow of a doubt that Serral is the GOAT. And it's not even close.

Absolutely... I wrote an article on reddit and TL a couple of months ago to analyze the GOAT claims. Serral won objective metrics by such large margins that it wasn't even close.

​@@arankoka What you are looking at is one 1v1. Greatest of Now still is Serral. Clem only won 2 out of 5 tournaments in 2024, he participated in. Didn't survive group stage at MC7, got kicked out of IEM by Serral in the quarterfinals and her0 defeated him at ESL Spring where he didn't reach Ro8. Serral on the other hand won 3 out of 4 tournaments he participated in and in the one he did not win, he placed 2nd. He has better match win rates, better tournament win participation ratios, much higher average placements and won more quality tournaments (Clem's other win besides EWC was ESL Spring Europe which is the least prestigeous as no Koreans are allowed and Serral was in military and didn't participate). In 2025, Clem was kicked out at MC8 in the group stage again and Serral won it. Although, I'd also bet 10€ on Clem in a direct confrontation, that doesn't mean Clem is the greatest/best player at the moment overall.

@@hivetech4903 IMO you underestimate Astrea. IIRC he had quite good results in 2024. But if somebody ranks Classic or Showtime higher I won't argue against it. It's quite difficult because after MaxPax and Hero the skill level is quite similiar IMO.

I'm assuming that when they made it a key macro unit, they wanted to make sure it was accessible early. And in order to do that, they had to ground it. I'd love to see the change log on it during development though. Either as it changed from SC1 Queen to SC2 Queen, or if it was an entirely different unit that just ended up taking the name.

@@cousinpatsey2471 I think it makes more sense to see Queens as an entirely different unit that just happens to have the same name (with some flimsy lore justification), since functionally they have nothing in common: the SC2 Queen is unlike any Brood War unit, while the only part of the Brood War Queen that survives in SC2 Zerg is the ensnaring/decloaking aspect of Fungal Growth. It is interesting though that in Wings of Liberty, Zerg had no flying wizard (Viper was only added in Heart of the Swarm). So maybe they did decide to directly replace the Lair-tech flying wizard with an early-game macro unit (while moving Defiler->Infestor to the position Queen used to occupy in the tech tree).

What strikes me as odd is Serral’s one weakness is to what us diamond 1 zergs face nonstop. 2 base timing attacks that allow the toss to rocket up in bases. Basically toss acting like an easier to manage zerg. Chargelot archon or glaive adept, both flavors equally as delicious with the occasional dt rush in there as well. I guess at the Fnnisher’s level they stopped trying it? So odd to see him get to 66 drones and then just dying.

The highest level players are expected to know how to counter cheese and early aggression, and those strategies are usually super risky if they don't do significant damage. As a result, top level players will typically go for builds and attacks with better recovery options rather than go a build where they either win or lose in 10 minutes. Especially if there's money on the line.

Implying that Serral has a weakness to anything you see in Diamond or Masters is hilarious. You don't face anything like herO's builds or any pro level build. Put the replays side by side, write down the order of buildings, units & times everything happens & they're not even remotely similar. I'm 4.5K MMR Random so a bit higher than you - at my level players still can't execute builds properly and they sure as hell don't in Diamond.

I assume you mean the workers - the ones gathering minerals and gas? Yes, they're remaking them constantly. You want to have between 70 and 90 of those. It's a big deal when you lose some, because it means you'll be getting a lot less resources until you rebuild them.
