People always dog on terran balancing but you cannot argue that Clem's marine and medivac micro on game 5 was absolutely stunning. There were fights happening on several fronts and Clem was, aside from some hiccups, perfectly pulling back/stutter stepping/picking up marine squads ALL while macroing. Dude played lights out and showed why he's a world champion. What an awesome series and thanks for casting, Winter

Get real dude. it's planetary and liberator tip right not dying to like 5 ultras. Terrans will act like having a 150/150 building and one 125 gas air unit that costs 3 supply total should be able to stop 40 supply army by itself. Mass repair is actually mechanically broken. Meanwhile Terran can fly 10 supply around and kill a base or every drone.

I can and I will. Drops and micro didn't win that game; endless set-and-forget widow mines did. The auto-target did the most damage, not Clem. It's insane that we think SC2 is mostly balanced. Terran has more army supply thanks to mules, best defenses in the game, best drops and harrassment, best spellcaster (who also deals damage, who also needs fucking 6 baneling hits to die because decent HP and neither light nor armored)...

Love to see this. Here's what I realize. Earlier serral vs Clem, Serral just tried to play the way he wants to - max greed, race to hive and late game, and then dominate through perfect execution. And he can't, because Clem can equal him at every stage and win with the natural advantage of aggression. This series in Game 1 is Serral finally accepting he has no choice to play against Clem like all the other pros - try to seize the moment with surprise, deception, and creating mismatches. And it works!

I'm going to sound very salty, but I see none of this. All I see is one player managing multiple spellcasters and a melee army to try and catch a player with range, healing, drops, air siege units and fucking self-targeting, multi-shot, ranged, burrowed, splash-damage auto-win nightmare machines. I'm trying so hard to keep watching SC2, but any matchup with T in it just makes me feel pissed off and salty. I switched entirely to watching BW because I can't manage my feelings around SC2's state of balance anymore.

There's so many things you have to deal with and look out for, and on top of that if you're Zerg it's way too easy to shutdown your vision with a handful of ghosts. Making Overseers feels like an exercise in futility. It often feels like Terran gets easy wins compared to the effort needed to play against them.

Absolutely agree with previoius commentators. Yes Clem plays out of his mind on 500 APM and Serral pushes him to his limit. But. Banes are shit now. Ultras was always shit and range slop change did not went through, you can kite them to death. Roach was and is shit and Clem convencingly showed that. Lurkers are but a target practice for ghosts. Queens are 25 minerals more expensive. List of zerg nerfs is truly endless. And people keep comparing Serral of 2019 and Serral or now. Wake up. Zerg race is 30% weaker (at least) ocmparing to the 2019. Means Serral got 30% stronger as a player since then. But I actually grateful to Clem, he's the only guy that can trash Serral sometimes in onesided manner. That's (probably) will keep zerg from too many nerfs in the future. Although I am not sure. Current balance counsil looks like a joke to me. And, fortunately, on the noob level, it does not matter. You can still outplay your opponent. Not the case on the highest level ) But the changes affect noobs as well unforchunately.

"We don't have time for this" in the queen "off my creep" voice during the hectic game play in Game 4(?) is probably peak Winter comedy. They are temporary workers that get dropped from an orbital for 50 energy. They do y not count on the UI since they expire. They are more efficient than SCV’s in gathering.

No, they don't cost supply. And they don't count as workers during the harvesting either. Only one SCV / Drone / Probe can mine at one mineral patch at the same time. However, Mules don't can mine simultanously. -> Terran can mines tons of minerals in a very short amount of time, without having to spend supply. You get mules from Orbital Commands, they cost energy and you can spam them if you have enough Orbitals with energy. They get dropped down to whatever location you want.

@@teddanville6996 Medivacs got an upgrade that gives them 200% higher energy regen, liberators now cost 25 less gas for no reason, orbital command center got an ability to instantly heal a supply depot back to health, Banshee upgrades are cheaper and faster to research. As for Zerg, banelings have less health and damage. Hydralisk's base speed has been nerfed. Brood lords are bugged, they can't use their full range, and broodling duration has been nerfed by a whole 2 seconds. Queen cost has been raised by 25 minerals. Lurkers have less health, and they take longer to burrow/unburrow due to adaptive talon nerfs. Ultralisk model size got increased (which is a nerf, as it's harder for them path-find now), and their speed upgrade was nerfed, which allows stimmed marines to outrun them now. I swear, Terran enjoyers are illiterate.

Maybe someone who's played more recently than I have can explain. I really feel like Serral would have benefited from building more spore crawlers in his bases. He knew that drops and liberators were a thing that Clem was commiting to. It feels like it would be so much cheaper in the long run to build several more spores in the mid-game.Especially on the margins of the map (12 and 6 oclock bases). Yes you lose the mining time & cost of rebuilding the drone you're using for the spore, but when you end up losing multiple drones to drops (that can just try again later), or liberators + losses of queens, doesn't it make economic sense to build more than 1 spore?

I've thought for a while that outlying spores would help vs drops, but it's Terran after all, there are many locations where they can just drop on the low ground and shoot upwards. All positional anomalies favor Terran, it seems like. Gee I wonder why that is.

From my observations if you put spores near edges, marines drop down early and shoot them without risking medivac. If you don't put them on the edges marines drop on the edges and either ignore the spore or kill it in seconds. Pretty sure they're not much of a match for liberators either. Those spores are also (mostly) static defense that aren't useful against rest of the terran army. At least vs. protoss they still contribute agains the skytoss death ball.

Well, Zerg is soooooooooo well suited with shooting down the medevacs. Maybe the balancing council will finally come to senses and allow the Zergs to have any kind of decent anti air early on ... making queens expensiver and limit the range as well as the damage of queens so medevacs survive is great balancing, especially for terrans. And then there's detection ... having overlords is really great, especially when they are the only air units and also are supply for the zerg also. So it's obvious, what is getting targeted first. Long live the widow mines.

wanted to share some metal league ideas about pro-play, like you do. raven first against zerg: can kill overlords with turret (200hp vs 225dmg), can harrass workers, can save scans and clear creep with helions, and can anti-armor for pushes. honestly insane we don't see this. void ray late game against zerg: much stupider idea but still. obviously are very fragile against parabomb, and just in general, and also cost about as much as a tempest anyway without the range or armor. BUT dps against armor is super strong. have been wondering why they aren't even really considered when zerg is on big lurker corrupter compositions.

@ It might, but you'd still have the tech for lurkers - which is a decent counter to that, so void rays wouldn't get you out of it, at least not alone. Carriers destroy hydra, corrupter destroy carriers and voids destroy corrupters, so it'd depend on the gameplay choices : 3

For a while that was the standard - it was always the same: e.g. protoss builds carriers --> zerg builds >15 corruptors --> protoss builds VRs As for the early raven, I guess they do more damage with banshees (?) - and clearing creep with hellions + raven has the big problem (on high level) that the speeds are so different. I you look how they run around their hellions, it would be a pain to always wait for the raven. And then you'd always have to babysit it, so queens don't get it. They use early ravens in TvT though (or used to, idk about now), I think to disable tanks mostly ...

I seriously wonder if balancing the game around pros having similar winrates is a fundamentally flawed approach. Two guys are sprinting; one has a 10-kg rucksack on his back, the other has nothing. Over the span of years, guy 1 slowly starts winning and then keeps winning. So we slowly increase the amount of weight in his backpack until he starts losing again. It's a deliberately exxagerrated example, but the more I compare SC to other sports and e-sports, the more it looks this way. How does the balance council know this isn't what we're doing?

I think game seriously needs some form of AI testing. ) Like vendors testing condoms electronucally. Advances 5-6k MMR bots should test balance. ) But all of this matters if a studio actually giveaf about the game, which is not out case lol. And as far as I heard in a balance counsil.. they found out that investing into hellions and timing pushes involving hellbats were not so good (queens kite them to death). This might change with the queen nerf. Also, spamming marines and medivacs is just winning so why bother?

So much strategy in this rts game. Literally know exactly what he going to do every game and cant stop it. Terran all mechanics, no strategy. Watching clem was fun for awhile but its getting boring. Get mech in line with bio ffs. So dumb watching most endgame units being a throw.
