As I was a kid, one old dude had such an old race car in it's garage (probably old f1). I didn't knew it at that time, but it was a fantastic car and we made great excursions on the little roads around the town. Wonderful memories.

When was this? It's a long time since F1 cars were ever road legal. In fact, I can't think of an era when an actual Formula 1 car could be driven on the road. If you are talking pre-World War 2 Grand Prix car, then some of them could be made road legal.

What an emotional video. My mother conserved some photos taken by her father, my grandfather, along that Mille Miglia 1933.

Among the photos also those of the Mille Miglia 1932, including the Alfa of Antonietta Avanzo, the first woman to participate. My mom's family was from Casalmaggiore, where the final part of the race passed. When a very young Nuvolari kidnapped his fiancée to marry her, they went to live in their grandparents' palace for a period, before returning to Mantua; one of his trunks remained in house and I have it now.

Tazio Nuvolari add his name to your racing lexicon. Raced motorcycles, Alfa, Ferrari, then Auto Union (Audi) until WWII. Ferdinand Porsche called him the best driver ever. Salute! 🏁

@@oldschoolracinggames5729 ...until January 28, 1938. That still left Caracciola, Nuvolari, Stuck, and after WWII, Juan Manuel Fangio pretty much owned the new Formula 1 Series through the 1950s. There are as many favorites as competitors.

What a lovely snippet of proper racing ! All respect to our modern racing drivers but there's no way you'd be seen driving in these conditions ! And poor Campari ! This really does illustrate how dangerous racing was ! Thankyou

Up until the late 60s you had to drift these cars to get them around corners. Once aero packages came along the need became a lot less. It was not a case of how did they do it but how did they control it, also pay attention to the tires, they are tiny compared to even modern street cars
