@@kevinf6859 Yeah, I'd be nice if Rockstar's plan was like this - one entry from their main series per generation, so we would have both Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto series expanded and each release would show us what the peak of a generation looks like. But instead of milking GTA they could also focus on some new project, or returning to other series (for example, I didn't play Bully but that game must still have strong fanbase), but I believe that it's more Take-Two's fault.

If you're wondering whether to play on "performance" or "performance RT" remember that the "RT" setting is more liable to drop frames during play. "Performance" is very stable at 60 fps in comparison.

@@thomasbitmail7937 every mode is 4K actually. Fidelity mode is just native and locked at 30 fps, while both performance modes are tweaked little bit with dynamic resolution (somewhere 1900p). Without fps lock the fidelity mode would've been around 40-45 fps I think.

Either the console is that weak and falsly advertised or the devs. just can't make a decent upgrade of their games. @@thomasbitmail7937 IMO not weak, but without any "revolution", you know. I think that's the fastest time for console generation to become outdated this days. It came out with modern but middle-high tier CPU with just enough GPU to run current games in 4K (that doesn't mean 60FPS though). Well, I don't think it is capable of truly next-gen games coming in future. All comes to the fact that consoles are just nearly-affordable gaming boxes, not said "experience" as before. P.S. But in the sense of experience, PlayStations controller is damn fun with it's gimmicks.

As time goes on, the gap between graphics quality gets smaller & smaller. Not just in this game, but in general. PS1 to PS2 was a big jump, and I'd say the biggest jump was PS2 to PS3. But PS3 to PS4 was much smaller, and PS4 to PS5 is absolutely miniscule. It just proves that, the more realistic technology gets, the harder it is to improve.

I still find it surprising that they were able to run GTA V on PS3 and X360, the game still holds up well on those consoles to this day. The PS4 version brings some very interesting improvements over the PS3/X360 version, it's an excellent version. But on PS5 I think they definitely could have done better.

Crazy how the traffic isnt more dense, the grass isnt more dense, the traffic ai are still the same generic cars, no RT Reflections and/or lighting when shadows are unnoticeable af, and no improvements to character textures. I also think if they removed the RT Shadows and the better reflections from fidelity mode they game could run Native 4K 60

Looks super sharp for 1440p in performance mode! Their reconstruction seems really good. I was actually guessing it was in the 1800pish range based on visual quality. Performance RT is also really sharp but the reconstruction has artifacting and flickering when looking in the distance

from what I've gathered over the years, I think rockstar wanted the xbox 360/ps3 releases to look more like the ps4/xbox one, but the hardware was limited. They probably knew that a new generation of consoles was inevitable and planned to rerelease it with the "original" vision. The fact they crammed so much high quality content into 2005 hardware and got it to run as well as it did is truly impressive.

Madurar es entender que la culpa la tiene el consumidor. Una compañía te pone un producto en el mercado, sea malo, bueno o una obra maestra; pero al final es el consumidor quien decide pagar por él. Rock Star le sabe al negocio, y GTA V es su producto insignia. With the PS5 version, KZbin doesn’t do it proper justice. I have mine set to Performance RT and the visuals are quite amazing! The rain and shadow effects are top-notch. That being said, there are a lot of things I wish they had done to the PS5/Xbox Series X|S versions to make this as good as a release as it was when it transferred to the last-gen systems from the PS3/Xbox 360 era. It would have been nice to see updates such as all online buildings, weapons, garages (especially the low rider garage), and vehicles available in story mode. It’s not too late, though. This could all be done in a single update.

The PS3 version looked like a completely different game from the others. In some ways, I actually preferred the look of the PS3 version, like in the safe for example, I don't like how the smoke looks and also the fog in the city. The increase of vegetation is what stood out to me the most, it barely exists in the PS3 version. I guess this why game developers always demand for more RAM. The jump from 512 MB (spilt into two 256 MB pools) to 8 GB (probably had 5 to 6 GB of RAM to utilise for graphics), was so substantial. No wonder the difference between the PS4 to PS5 version wasn't that huge in graphics.

I remember it well. The game came out in 2013 and I took a week off. I also bought a new TV. I had a tube TV before. I bought a FullHD 46" Samsung TV especially for the game. My girlfriend wasn't allowed to come over for a week. I just went to the gym every day, ordered food and played this game. There was no online mode for the game. I played through GTA for the first time. And it's one of the most wonderful memories. Thank you. And it always looked great, even on the PS3.

Entiendo que el Ray Tracing de AMD está lejos de lo que logra Nvidia pero los mods de GTA con RT en PC están bastante lejos de lo que Rockstar está entregando en consolas. Un modo con sombras y reflejos en RT a 1080p aunque sea a 30 FPS habría sido bien recibido. Pero diría que si tienen la oportunidad de jugarlo en PC con alguna tarjeta con ray tracing mejor háganlo ahí.

In regards to your comments on the 1440p@60 being questionable, my guess is that optimisation for the new hardware was either a non-priority or didn't occur and the game is very likely still baked into last-gen techniques and technology (apart from the ray tracing).

Shadows when they are further away from the object, they get softer On ps4 all shadows are always sharp Go outside at daytime and look at your shadow how it gets softer the further it is from your body

Playing in RT performance mode and LOVING it. The controller, anti-aliasing, draw distance and shadows makes this game a treat after grinding it for years on PC. Started a new Online character. Feels good to be a noob again

To be honest i love 360 version the most overall - this is for me the signature look of the game. Mind that i play 360 and ps3 on large good quality CRT TV so i don't see almost any artifacts related to lower resolution. My reasons for prefering old gen is - first one pure asthetic choice, i prefer color balance, i prefer lighting, i don't like post process effects in 8th gen version (especialy blue haze), i think simpler vegetation fitted better the game world and so on. The second reason is that during the release of new patches some gameplay changes were made - the vehicle destruction in old gen is nicer (you can almost shape your car just by kicking it), and ai vehicles will not try to ram into you whenever you start driving a bit faster and so on. That being said i miss first person on few occasions especialy flying jet or driving motorbikes. You can achive most of what you want on modded pc version if you are patient with modding. And i have to say i haven't played PS5 version, which seems to have again changed color balance/timecycle to a bit nicer than 8th gen - and support for ps5 controler haptic triggers must feel nice so i guess that would be really fun.

Me gustaría comentar otras mejoras, más allá de las gráficas. - La vibración háptica. Se habla poco de ella, pero creo que su uso es acertado. Es sutil, pero acompaña en muchas situaciones del juego. La vibración del tráfico rodado al pasar a tu lado, las gotas de lluvia al caerte, la vibración del motor al conducir... - Y el audio 3D mejorado. No sé muy bien que han hecho, si han añadido más fuentes de audio a la vez, o si se procesa de algún modo distinto, porque ahora la ciudad se escucha mucho más inmersiva.

At night when it rains, I switch to fidelity mode to enjoy the patched RT-reflections. The judder of 30FPS isn't that noticeable in those conditions. Other than that, I always switch back to Performance RT to retain ray-traced shadows, preferring 60fps over RT reflections. But the real question is why can't Rockstar do RT Reflections at 60fps like what Insomniac does for Spider-Man and Ratchet and Clank?
