Grand Turk Cruise Port Attempts to Combat Crime

Congrat to Grand Turks! They're doing what Nassau should have done years ago to clean up the "trinket pawners". Nassau was such a beautiful place; until the sellers became overbearing, pushy & rude to the tourists. I remember one time in Nassau that I had to practically pour Rosary Water on them to get them away from me. They literally chased me around the little selling area & continually asked if I wanted to buy anything. Very off-putting!

We went to Grand Turk in Sept. 2019 on the Horizon. Fortunately we didn’t have any of the issues others have described. It is a beautiful port and we had a great time.

We have been to Grand Turk 9 times and have never been approached by anyone who was trying to sell us anything illegal.

We stopped at Grand Turk while sailing on Mardi Gras. We didnt encounter any vendors at all.

Good morning, Doug! I am very glad we cruised on Allure of the Seas twice this year so I could see what the original look & features of an Oasis class ship were when they first debuted! Now with the Amplification of the Allure it will be more like the rest of the Oasis class ships. I have Utopia booked next year so it will be fun to see how Oasis class ships have evolved!

Good morning Doug! We went to an excursion in Puerta Plata, all day private resort. While getting set up at the beach, it started with the peddlers. Every 5 minutes, one would ask for you buy. It became unbearable, so we headed to the pool. The peddlers do not have access to the resort. Thanks for all the news and enjoy your day!

Morning Doug, Grand Turk has had growing issues for some time. Unfortunately a growing Haitian Gang problem growing on Turks and Caicos. In the end , its supply and demand for drugs, no demand , no supply. Hopefully this will work out for all parties. Carnival has to crackdown, unfortunately to much of a bad reputation. Not necessarily false or true. Glad you all weathered the storm okay. Good day Doug.

Hi Doug, Do you have any news on Honduras asking British Citizens to obtain a visa and know of or how this will affect UK pasengers? Honduras is a stop of most cruise lines and 1000s of passengers are heading for cruises over the summer and September. This is in direct retaliation to the UK issuing a visa requirements due to a 400% asylum seeker increase from Honduras in the last few years.
