Fellow gramps here. In my 72 yrs here on the orb, this is the best band on so many levels, I have ever encountered and I'm gobsmacked still, after being a Maidiac for 2 yrs. Grandad as good as this version of "No God" is, it was from a behind closed doors live stream show with no audience done during the Covid lockdowns. BAND-MAID still found a way of bringing us Maidiacs some awesome music :)

IMHO they (whoever mixes and records the live videos) still haven’t done this song justice. It is their best song live IMHO in part because as much as any song in their library, the crowd is part of the song. The mix on the TGT just doesn’t have the crowd come through. They just need to point a mic towards the audience while recording. And yes, Gary, DYTM has been my second favorite song seeing them live so far. 😊 Again, heavy crowd participation.

@@GaryHolloway-810 I believe the maids have said in some interview the no cheering rule was exempted early for this show, which probably means it wasn't the loudest crowd to begin with, but also I just think they didn't have any crowd coverage. Eggman definitely had restrictions on cheering....and clapping. 🤔 EDIT: lol I didn't even realize you used the same emoji already.😆 You used it genuinely, I used it sarcastically towards the silly rule.

There actually is a newer official live video of "No God" on Band-Maid's channel. This one was recorded during the COVID lockdowns so they were playing for people on the internet and there was no live audience present. They really come alive for a live audience.

From one granddad to another, good ear for the Ace of Spades similarity! ♠️ “No God” isn’t even in my top 20 Band Maid songs. It’s a blast live, however, it’s going up against some of the most brilliantly crafted songs I’ve heard. As others have already mentioned, there are two official live videos for this song. This one was live-streamed during COVID lockdown, while the other was recorded last year in front of 8000 fans at the Tokyo Garden Theater (it was also live-streamed). You can't go wrong with either version.

BAND-MAID started in 2013 and has an extensive discography. A really good live video is from lalapalooza 2023. It’s a 2 song medley, Dice/Hate. No doubt you will read a lot of praise about Misa on bass.

This is one of the "covid era" live streams which weren't ideal but it kept the band in business. Another one that might show their depth is a two-fer *"Manners/Black Hole."* You get a groove between bass and drum for the first one ("Manners"), and even thrashier for the second one ("Black Hole"). Kanami Tōno writes most of their music with contributions from everyone else, and she's very creative. Miku writes most of the lyrics and they have surprising depth, coming from a small pigeon.

I prefer to listen to Band Maid per album so suggesting a song is like throwing a dice, I can’t come up with a reason to not suggest any of their songs, in which case the MV for the song Dice naturally comes in mind. Band-Maid and The Warning met each other at the Afterschock festival in Sacramento, California. Here is a brief clip: kzbin.info/www/bejne/poXXeWugpN-lh7M Apparently, they are fans of each other. Band-Maid has announced they are doing collaborations with overseas bands. Fan speculation is that The Warning is one of them. Another candidate is the American rock band Incubus. Incubus was the major act at a one-day festival, Pointfest, in St.Louis and Band-Maid was one of the other acts. Mike Einzinger, the lead guitarist of Incubus, came to watch them, posted a video of them on Instagram, and had his picture taken with them. The most common live song to react to is "Domination" kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5PcgnaAo5ulj8k It's a good choice. Their gimmick is based on maid cafes in Japan, the Band-Maid founder, Miku Kobato, had worked in maid cafes and liked the contrast (the "gap") between the subservient maid look and their hard rock sound. Kobato is the rhythm guitarist, backing singer, and lyricist for the band. Lovebites has done something similar with their soft white dresses and heels and their thrash/power metal music. Another all-women metal band from Japan to check out is Nemophila. The name is the scientific name of a genus of flowers, "baby-blue eyes". They deliver "soft and fluffy hell". They are more of a metalcore band (not that they respect genre boundaries, these Japanese bands have no patience with that BS). No end of amazing rock/metal/punk bands in spite of the fact the music scene there is mostly pop (J-Pop). Babymetal is a genius fusion of J-pop "idol" and heavy metal.

About 5 years ago I complained my daughter, the radio in San Diego's stunk to high hell and my CD player had busted. So she showed me KZbin and Babymetal and lord my soul was healed. From there I discovered so many ALL FEMALE bands: Band-Maid, Aldious, Mary's Blood, Lovebites, Doll$boxx, Bridear, Nemophila, Hanabie, Show-Ya and so many more... Its literally all good. Their newest song is shambles, (and is on of their best). But they also have a version of green sleeves, called “dawn winery theme” (it’s for a video game). Definitely give the manners, black hole video a watch though, those are 2 great songs that show their range.

Apart from the drummer Akane the girls are great beerdrinkers. MISA the bassist is the most notable as she drinks onstage. But actually miku the rhythm guitarist is the real boozer. Plays competition poker and has a share in a racehorse. The others say she's really a middle aged man.

I don't know any Live performance of No God that I like (the audio mix isn't really good). Don't get me wrong: I like "No God" but my favorite version is the acoustic one from their Christmas session, which is sadly not available on KZbin. But if you like "live performances" then Band Maid is a perfect band for you. You should check out "Play Live" or "Freedom Live" or "Domination Live" or many many others. When it comes to band members playing instruments- forget Baby Metal. They are a dancing vocal group with a backing band. The dancing ain't up to much to be quite honest. I don't dislike Baby Metal but Band-Maid are everything that they aren't.
