This is seriously one of the best pieces of comedy ever written. I love that even without the comedy, it would still be a fun, catchy, jaunty tune. And without comedians and studio audiences laughing, you can really appreciate the actual music behind the comedy. I've always loved a good combination of fiddle/violin and banjo.

Omg EVERYWHERE! I read the comments from people saying this was stuck in their heads...and it turns out they were very right about that, this thing is an earworm. It really is a beautiful piece of music. I came back to youtube to play it again, and as soon as I typed H-O-R in the search box the first result was "horne section pea song". They *knew* we'd be back!

For Americans, look up Hank Green for the entrance to a clever music rabbithole. He's the founder of DFTBA Records (DFTBA=Don't Forget To Be Awesome, a reference to something Hank and his brother novelist John Green say on their VlogBrothers channel).

It's a fine British tradition of being absolutely filthy in polite society with complete innocence, because it's all in the mind of the recipient. Unfortunately, KZbin captions have entirely missed the point.

Thanks for this bit of comic and musical genius! Can you edit the transcript / add captions with the accurate lyrics? (the auto-generated captions are not doing the job!)
@simontay4851 Жыл бұрын
You don't need subtitles. They're perfectly understandable.
@patmfitz Жыл бұрын
@@simontay4851 I'm not saying it's not understandable, but a transcript/lyrics/captions are useful for various reasons, make the video more accessible, and even improve results for people searching for the video. The current automatically-generated transcript that KZbin has generated starts with "Grandad indicted toil from home to some", so not so great.

I don't understand the editorial choices made in this video. The choice of pictures does very little to add to the comedy, so is an opportunity missed. Each punchline should be underlined by a relevant visual. Instead, it would appear that the quality of the visuals have been focused on, with little to no regard for supporting or even enhancing the humour. By way of contrast, Taskmaster editing is genius and adds so much to how funny the content is. I can only assume this segment (at least) didn't share either director or editor with TM and it (sadly) shows. This is such an inventive and brilliant song with three absolute belter punchlines in and deserved more. Credit due for a fantastic song, though. A big fan of the Horne Section
