Great video. Antelope Island is a great place to visit and stay. My daughter actually got married at the Fielding Garr Ranch a few years back. The yearly buffalo roundup is great to see also.

I camped there Labor day weekend 2022. The temperature was brutal. Over 100•f and no shade except for a screen shelter I have. Still a nice place. Showers are also available.

Yep Keith, Labor Day is too early for Antelope Island IMO. Spring and fall are the best.

Great video Marc. Utah has so much to see and enjoy. Every year they have the Bison Roundup on the island. Volunteers on horseback round up the bison for vaccinations, health checks, and distribution of some to other bison herds to promote diversity of gene pools. I was able to participate in the Roundup one year. It was the experience of a lifetime.

Ron, there's not one particular one I can recommend without using it myself. However, they should work with the protocol of any vehicle with an OBD2 port.

I think antelope island is a strange place, nice to see all the campgrounds, that horse drawn camper was pretty neat. I was wondering if the salt smell is very bad. Another great video Marc.

Locals call that "lake stink". It's not so much from the salt water, but from dying organisms along the shoreline. That's more of a summer phenomenon. No odor this time around. Also, that camper is what's known as a sheep camp. Those who tend to the flock stay out with them in a sheep camp.

Thanks Marc... that was a neat side trip. Was that the herd that they used to re-populate the herd at Yellowstone some years ago? Just curious. The bison almost went extinct. I assume that the snowpack on the sounding mountains generally isn't that heavy at this time, in most years. Are they expecting flooding and mud slides after the melt in these mountains? 🤔 Gord

Whether or not they used the Antelope Island herd to repopulate Yellowstone I do not know. Whether or not the snowpack generates flooding remains to be seen. It all depends on how gradual a warm up we experience here. Right now, statewide the snowpack is at 201% of average water equivalent. So it's going to be interesting to see what happens when literally two winters' worth of snow starts coming down.

@@gorrdd The Great Salt Lake is pretty much the only basin runoff for the northwestern third of Utah. The other 2/3 eventually ends up in the Colorado River basin.

@@gorrdd by the way, I noticed your original post referred to "at this time." For what it's worth, statistically the first week of April is the time that our mountain snowpack peaks.
