Craft a tool belt, best thing there is in game. Unlock the first one and make a refined spear and use it as the top option, will help alot killing those huge crabs. Don't throw on them wait for them to come to you, go in the sea or a rock they will turn around that's when you stab them at the back like 5 or 6 times. And snakes too as one hit kill.

Tool belt is great for console only it’s worthless on pc and does not free slots like it does on console. And you for the awesome tips !

Axes are allot better for killing the giant crabs. Just sneak up on them and start wacking em. The spears have a higher chance of breaking when using them against the crabs

The easiest beginning food for me was giant grouper. If you are lucky they will spawn just out of the shallows and are one hit with any tool. Hold LT and drag them to shore. Then skin. 2 medium meat! Be careful of sharks and poison starfish. Just a tip.

I like to use the extra spears to mark poison spots on the ground. Get close and aim straight down to throw and it will remind you not to walk on spots

Thanks, I’m new to the game. Best tip for me was the coconuts needing 10 in game minutes til you can drink without getting sick. I was waiting a couple irl minutes. The next best tip was probably the raft being flipped. Sharks make the game so annoying when my raft gets flipped every 15 seconds

the starter raft can be used for shelter from the sun to save taking a dip in the ocean :)

You can eat the Kura and the Quwawa Fruit put they do not respawn. You can grow them in a crop bed. The fruit will spoil. So don't pick them until you are ready to eat them.

Great video thanks. So I took all these ideas on board and actually looted the shipwreck and filled my dinghy up with coconuts and sticks from the first island and set sail straight away to the next bigger island with all the stuff!

I"ve got one other tip. If you save your game before opening chest's you can get better items from then. Bex=cause if you open then after you saved the game and don't like what's in it restart and open it to find other items in the chest

So helpful. Thanks for all your videos. I've been playing since it came out on gamepass but recently our Co op save has glitches badly. I'm the 2nd player to my mate and I can't see items in containers, can't pull the raft and only have 2 drinks in my leather flask instead of 3 etc... devs know of issues for months and not fixed. Gutted!

I just started on PC with this game, I ran across something & not seen a video on it. When in the cartographer I had planted some palms then seen something strange, I grabbed another palm put my mouse arrow on the truck of the planted one moved to the top & sure enough you can stack them very high, then I got lanterns placed them at the top, homemade lighthouse or trees, I haven't ran across a video that shows this

Rocks also don’t respawn so use them wisely! I like to make a stone tool first and use it all the way down to 2% durability and then make a pile of 2% stone tools to use for crafting axes and stuff. Also use axes down to 0.6% durability and then use those to make refined axes! 👍

Hey GDG, just wanted to say thanks your vids on this game, I play on xbox and you have really helped me out. So the last update that came out for xbox, which was in March made it to where when using a spear to fish, you can no longer just take the fish off of the spear. You now have to drop the spear and take the fish off from the ground. Makes fishing way more difficult especially in the water. Anyone else having this problem or any word if the devs are going to fix this?

yeah its a pain in rear with that bug now .. its a known bug since the console update .. i imagine its being worked on .. no ETA atm though

I thoroughly enjoy this game while playing it with permadeath turned on. I think it ups the stakes. Also I’m pretty sure coconuts do respawn unless I just forgot to pick one lol

i’ve been playing multiplayer with a mate and the crates are the buggiest things. sometimes we can’t pick them up. i’m not the host of the world so somtimes all the items disappear out of them for me (the stuff still shows for him) anyone got a fix. also great video man. keep it up👌🏼

If your on console and trying to get the no compass trophy you can always hug the invisible border walls. I had two bosses near starting island but other was on other side of map. I just followed that wall up to the top.

They say the waves always move to south. Other tips on navigation too without a compass. I just found the border wall to be a sure thing then trusting my steering over that distance 😆

Thank you for this video. I had a question about material refunding. AFAIK, you need to max out your harvesting AND crafting levels in order to get a full material refund from your crafted items? Is it also true that there are exceptions to this? For example, you get nothing back when you destroy plank container shelves, installed on your raft?

ive always maxed out my harvesting to get all materials back. otherwise you get part of your materials back.

Found this out awhile back in solos sharks don't attack you at night for the first few days or until you actually start making the raft

17:54 I discovered this bug accidentally last night and it still works so I always keep my coconut drinks in an item pile. You don’t have to wait to put them in the pile either (you just have to wait to drink a third or else you get the shits as was said in the video) it only works with empty coconut drinks not after you’ve cut it for food

Coconuts DO respawn in trees! I stayed on the first island for 6 days and some grew back after 72 hrs and others were 5 days! But NOT ALL palm trees do this

I’ve tried so many times in all kinds of ways … nothing has ever respawned. I did a test recently where I waited 60 ingame days nothing respawned

Fun fact, you can prop up your inflatable raft, if you crouch under it, ot will provide UV protection. I learned that on accident while watching your video. I'm on Xbox Uno Edit: just be careful not to knock it over..

If you leave tools at 1 percent durability and upgrade it it will be at 100 percent durability again. This will work for stone tools to refind knives and the crude axe to refind axe and the spears

Great tutorial, I have thousands of hours in this game on PC but just bought it on PlayStation and going absolutely nuts trying to figure out the buttons! I can’t eat or drink because I cannot find which button makes it happen! The action button doesn’t, the “use” button doesn’t! So annoying.

Just started playing this weekend on Xbox with my son and have become addicted. Sadly by the end of the weekend we had to walk away from it due to the raft glitch and the house glitch. Both becoming invisible to me and everything in boxes disappear also. Pretty disheartening.

It takes several days but coconuts do respawn. Must have updated it five days in my first try, some of them reappeared to save me

The sun doesn't set in the west on pc, it's more to the northish which can throw you off. It does rise in the east tho so they got it half right.

i was referencing the movement of the tides from north to south, which i feel was obvious in the video. but yes the sun does not set directly in the west, more like northwest.. but it is in a westerly direction. as long as you watch the water movement you will always have your baring's.

yes .. but make sure your raft has at least 2 tiles and they cant flip you

keep them harvested so they’re always on cooldown, aka always growing back while you’re playing…and when you visit the island again they will be respawned

On my 2 shipwrecks by my starter island there isn't any buoy balls to loot. There's a crashed sideways ship and an underwater ship both did not have them. How should I make a raft to get to the next island?

Lots of sticks and lashings then you need some cloth for a sail and rudder and then you'll need a rock too for a anchor ⚓

Do I have to clear the yucca farming plot after harvesting or it okay to leave it? I've been doing that because I dont want to lose it. It gives me a fruit every time I harvest it and I clear the plot and plant again. Is that okay?

You don’t have to Clear a yucca farm plot to farm more fiberous leaves from it. It will regrown em.

The ground crafting tip is huge. Just started playing the free copy that was given away on Epic a while ago. Finding the whole inventory and crafting system really clunky compared to other games. Clearly built for controller first.

If you're going to leave a island get your compass out point at the island your going to check the direction and the opisit direction so you know your cordienets back

Not guaranteed to have any types of consumable plants on your island. Might need to visit the next one.
