You have a very nice shop, Mr. Porter. I'm a clockmaker in Conyers, Georgia. I also liked the test stand that you made. Thank you for sharing that with us!!

Thank you William for the great idea of building this clock repair stand. Drill those holes to fit rods at strategic locations bend the rods in a square or U shape and cover with a plastic sheet hood made by cutting and shaping then attach with Gorilla glue and or duct tape..

Nice run stand William, I need to get one of those made.. how about small plexiglass boxes, big enough to cover one movement and chime rods, and add the pins to keep to locked it in position. this way you keep the movement enclosed, but can still look inside with out removing it

William, great idea! I would appreciate your permission to use your idea. I'm thinking of attaching the test stand to the wall in the corner of my shop. Also, I'm limited on real estate, so I'm going to scale back the length of the stand to 48 inches. I would appreciate your thoughts about my ideas before I get started with construction. Thanks for sharing your idea.

Hey Bruce, sorry I have not responded, I had not received a notification that you had posted....Have fun building yours. I do have a couple of ideas for you. I know having floor space is critical, though sometimes being able to get to both sides is necessary. Attaching it to the wall may work well and be less in materials, basically making the box and 2 vertical legs, you could also make the legs removable and hinge the top to the wall so it will fold down and out of the way when not in use. Any size would work as long as it suits your needs. Have a great day.

Ok cool Idea having the cross boards and pin system. I will modify this so Mine will only accommodate three clocks and can be disassembled. My work space is in the shop I am in is small. But a larger one will be good in my home shop. Did you think of a sliding tool rest to slide along the outside of the stand so you have your tools near the clock your working on?

Hello Gordon, space can be a issue, there are times I would like this a bit smaller then all of a sudden I have it full of clocks being tested, maybe I need to go fishing. As for having tools nearby I just use the bench near the clock stand. The 2 trays I added are helpful to hold a few things. Have a great day.

Handcrafted by L. Kern schwartz, or similar, a german guy, show more repect and next time tell his name, he built it. If you dont want to talk about it, just dont say anything.

Not sure what your talking about, dont know the guy nor have I ever heard of him.... maybe you can provide the information about what he has handcrafted so everyone can see. Not selling anything here just thought I would share ideas I have come up with.
