@@DevDreCW RPGMaker has a ton of great rpgs tho, three the hard way is still in my top 3 rpgs and it was created by a single person. 80+ hours of content, the story was incredible and intriguing, kept you asking for more, the branching storyline paths and the freedom to hunt down whichever kaibutsu lord you want(but this part ends once you kill 3 or the leader so you have to replay multiple times to learn everything), the sidequests, even the main character, who isnt the average rpg protagonist but a greedy bastard in it solely for the money. The ending was spectacular as well, ended on a cliffhanger which left you asking soooooooo many questions. Sadly the sequel was put on hiatus. Sir, you've gone far beyond what anyone should've ever done to himself for the sake of testing the limits of power in this game. The entire time you went on about levelling Sue, my mind echoed "but she leaves, why even bother?", and not only did you keep going, you added GADWIN to the equation! The guy who's already considered fairly OP by the time he joins the fray! I'm appaled and impressed at the same time. Never before have I seen someone be this efficient at wasting this much time. I played and beat Grandia on the PS1 back when the PS1 was the big thing, and looking back on it there's this sort of innocence and light-heartedness to it. It starts out with a "going on an adventure" tone and sure, you end up saving the world in the end, but it never really gets dark and heavy like other, more well-known RPGs of the era, and that's to its benefit.

You got me with Grandia, and made me smile with you calling it your all time favorite. I'm happy another feels this way about the game, it's definitely one of the best RPGs I have ever played in my life. I love the fact that everything gains exp, that leveling somebody is never exactly a waste since 1/3 of the levels can transfer, the unique ATB with cancels and delays, and how the game is more about the spirit of adventure than anything. Onto the video itself, basically the only thing this tells me is that it's near impossible to hit the level cap, and that water/earth/wind are the easiest ones to level since they basically can do support, and that fire is always going to be a pain short of Sue. Which is a shame, I have never to this day actually unlocked Feena's final moves, the fact they require level 99 of the magic makes it so difficult.

Like would you use any of your grinding spots from your vids or low level run through for later grinding spots like the gelinka? Would you bench Aerith in favour of one of the later game characters life Yuffie to get her conformer weapon and source farm for stat boosts or use Aerith's fury brand to boost everyone elses level 3 limit break progress? would you prioritise exp or ap? weapons or armour and accessories? Back when I got this game I never knew how popular it was in other places, cuz back then Internet wasn't really what it is today and you basically just had your local bubble of people to talk about games. Seeing that this game is still so popular, is actually incredible. Glad to see that this gem wasn't forgotten over the years. It's one of the cutest and best written RPG's on the PlayStation 1. It really captures this oldschool kind of adventuring and discovering new things in foreign lands, kinda like the old Indiana Jones movies. Really great game. And to see people cheese the heck out of it these days...absolutely hilarious and wholesome at the same time. Good stuff. :)

For preference, I tend to: -Prioritise Sue's Yawn skill in battles where there are more enemies than party members. It also helps building water exp -Teach at least one party member freeze, then find slimes. Use freeze until they're at movement -7 (almost immobile) and all they can do is either try to move towards you or Divide. You're done with freeze, now. If they actually reach you, just use the move command and get out of their way. If you don't use freeze more than you need to, you should be okay. If you have party members that aren't trying to learn water magic, now would be a good time to have them spam things like Diggin', Runner or any other non-damaging magic for easy exp. Or if it's a casual playthrough, just cast Alheal occasioanlly. You get magic exp if you cast it in combat even on fully healed party members. But trying to get to 99 of any element without the Ethereal Miracle isn't a pleasant prospect.

@@Primalliquid92 It's not 100% the same, but there's the third and fourth games in the "Penny Arcade Adventures" series, by the guys who made "Cthulhu Saves The World". Basically, you have the same timeline-based battle system, able to knock enemies out of their attacks with correct timing. The fourth game uses a pseudo-Pokemon system where you collect monsters and pick which ones you want to bring into battle, with unique characters like "Vendorr" the living Vending Machine, with the ability to create and use items from MP. The biggest difference between it and Grandia as far as battles go is that the battles are side-view like old-school Final Fantasy rather than isometric with characters running around, although like I said before, it does use the timeline battle system. It also takes a cue from "Cthulhu Saves The World" and enemies gain 10% to all of their stats every single turn, making battle strategy a priority. The big catch is, the game is actually rather story-heavy despite being Penny Arcade, where you'd think it would be nothing but comedy. (Although the comedy is there, and hilarious, especially if you're already a PA fan.) You definitely want to play the first two games to get the full story, and those look and play absolutely nothing like the latter half of the series, being more similar to something like Paper Mario or the Mario & Luigi series in how big the focus is on Action Commands, and with a big jump in difficulty over the two series. The reason behind this is that the series got cancelled after some issues with the original developers after the first two games. There didn't seem to be any way to finish the series, so the PA guys decided that their best bet would be to finish the story as a novel or something, until eventually a different developer (the "Cthulhu Saves The World" team) offered to do the remaining games, and do them the way they do best. Speaking of which, it might be interesting to see if you can pull off an overpowered video on the "Penny Arcade Adventures" games. There's a predetermined number of battles that generally don't respawn, so you have to get really creative in how you power-level since you can't just grind on endless enemies.

I have heard about this game so many times but never played it. I think your video might be the one that makes me get it this time. This game looks fun.

I hope they make a remaster of this game but actually make it harder. The game is so easy even back then.

I loved this game when I played it on PS1 a long time ago. I really liked the way you can combine weapon skills and magic knowledge to unlock special skills and spells, the multi-part monsters, and the turn-order system with the visible bar, the combo and stun system... there was so much there that I liked. The story and characters were also really memorable and delightful, it was just a lot of fun to play through the whole thing.

The story, is absolutely timeless, inspiring, very touching at times, all around so good. Possibly the best alongside og ff7 and Chrono Trigger

It may be wrong info, but I remember reading somewhere (probably gamefaqs) that if you want to be as powerful as possible by the end of the game, you'd still need to max Sue and Gadwin weapons and magic because the +33 lvls that they give can actually go past lvl 99, so you'd max every character, and then use the boosts on the ones you want

One of my most favourite RPG's of all time to beat the game all i did was get Justin to master wind + fire magic to unlock lighting and boom nothing survives.

I love this game, and it was the first game I went back through and tried to grind out to be as strong as I possibly could after I finished the game. Favorite thing about the game? Feena. Always Feena.

This game's a true masterpiece. I've played the regular game on PS1, PC and even Vita, and beat the Grandia ReDux remake/mod. My fave game of ALL TIME, right up there with DQ8. VERY worth playing.

I used to do the water thing, in the poison pools; I would intentionally stand in the poison pools and then heal them in menu. My water was always under levelled and is being it up to par with the attacking elements and weapons.

If you want to cut a bit of time off the Dom Ruins water grinding, make sure to use all three character's mp up before running back to the save point to recover, instead of running back every time a single character's mp is depleted. It's about 12-15 seconds of walking time each time you go back and forth, which will really add up with the number of times you have to make the trip to hit Water 99. On the subject of the Dom Ruins, a glitch was found in the PC port that allows you to either skip or endlessly refight a good number of the bosses, with the Dom Ruins boss Ganymede being the first example of a refightable boss. It's a glitched out version that only gives half the exp (since the boss is considered two parts but only one part of it spawns) and drops the Shell Armor but no money, but even at 500 exp a pop it's still about 10x more than you'll get from any regular encounters, and since its a boss the weapon/magic exp you'll get takes longer to drop down to 1 per hit.

Grandia is my favourite RPG of all time. I've completed it more times than I can count. My favourite thing about this game is the combat. But I also really like Feena. Her character, story, combat style, Feena is just awesome.

I still remember the japanese only mini games for the game where you use Justine/Feena/Sue again in an 8-bit style on the gameboy. There was an another japan only bonus disk for grandia that featured only 4 extra dungeons...man japan got all the cool stuff.

My introduction to this title was through grandia2 for the Dreamcast launch. I loved it. The battle system in particular it was nice to be able to engage on my terms and swing battles to my favour. Anyway I just grabbed the grandia 1 and 2 on the Nintendo switch so this will be my first time playing the original title. I hope it holds up
