Yes, Luffy is simple-minded, but not stupid. He is intelligent in many ways, in which other characters are not. For example, he is able to read others’ motives, understand someone’s character, determine what the greatest threat to his crew is and find a way to divert that threat from others and take it onto himself. He is also able to get the big picture of the situation and boil it down to its essence - that takes a certain kind of intelligence - the kind needed to be a successful leader. He is able to see someone’s strengths and weaknesses. He hates cowards and crybabies.

I love Luffy for what he is from a story writing perspective. It's clear that at first Luffy's devil fruit seems absolutely overpowered, and Luffy beating Alvida was the reason I and most of my friends thought this. But what's actually going on, is that Oda made Luffy a character that shows how training can make even the most underpowered fruits absolutely broken. CXVII 117 R in what world??? all luffy can do without training is take a punch and not get electrocuted. He only became invincible to poison by immunizing from it via magellan. He has one of the most useless devil fruits but because of his rigorous training as a child, innovation, and haki he has become one of the most powerful characters in the series. at some point soon he could beat almost any characters in a 1v1.

What I love more about luffy as a character is his resolve. Its just ridiculous in a really good way. Like the times he's basically been moments from death and said help whoever like he did with bon clay in the impel down arc. Like I say it's his resolve. Just in terms of getting stronger as well not just for himself but to protect everything he cares for. You could basically say he's pirate goku in a way but definitely a hell of a character.

Luffy is by far my favorite character in the OP world. What I have always loved about him is how creative he gets with his abilities. Unlike Goku: no signature moves, no real progress. Goku is a one trick pony. Scream until your opponent gets intimidated.

Due to Luffy's trademark number being 56, I suspect that his final bounty when the series is over will be 5.6 Billion Beri. Little fact: before the reunion of the the straw hats after their seperation, every time luffy used his 3rd gear attack, he would revert to a much smaller version of himself and be very tired afterwards, however, after the 2 year training and the straw hat reunion, he is now able to use it without worry of becoming small and weary and can even focus his ability to just his hands instead of his entire arm. Also, while not officially confirmed by the creator, fans believe that luffy possesses a special type of armament haki known as gold haki, which is much tougher than regular armament haki and is a sign of being the king of pirates. Extra fact: luffy, usopp and chopper created a silly dance where they stick chopsticks in their nostrils and under their bottom lip and wave their arms around while holding bowls.

Luffy is really my favourite anime main character. Idk what it is about his personality but he’s my all time fave. He’s so ingnorant to so many things yet he’s the most caring character. Getting closer to Shanks must have really rubbed off on him, hes so caring for his friends that they are basically his family and that shows in Luffy. It reminds me of the trap life lmao 😆 we got our crew and it’s undying loyalty to each other and caring of each others well beings. I almost got stabbed and had my bike stolen and now 30+ ppl are looking for the mf who did it to me in my city and once we find him he’s getting a ass beating from at least 5 of us. My homies thought they found my bike (description of the guy and chick were spot on and same colour of frame) and he called up 3 more so 4 of em rolled up to this guy and his chick when he was about to walk into a store and he turned around because he seen em walking to the bike. My one homeboy was right in his face like inches away “you took my homies fucking bike, we’re taking it or your getting fucked up” he was the biggest one of em too lmao. Then another had mase and they were gunna beat his ass if it wasn’t in such a heat spot. Once I told em what happened (the 3 didn’t know just the one who seen the bike and called the boys) they said they woulda grabbed the bats instead and fucked him up real good for me. No ones fucks with us In our city FOE FOR LIFE
