I never appreciated my hometown in Upstate NY, just 36 miles north of Eagle Bridge (Hudson Falls), until I left home. I grew up in an area heavily involved in the Revolution and even in school we went on what I thought was a 'boring' field trip to Fort Ticonderoga (my mom's home town). So looking at Grandma Moses' drawings evoke strong memories for me and am proud she was part of my home state.

I love Grandma Moses! She painted history while it happened! It looks like her grandson paints life 'as it happened'. Thanks for sharing this beautiful folk art tradition! Here in Canada, Maud Lewis, is the celebrated folk artist, inspired by Grandma Moses but who painted in an even more simple style.

Love this style!! I know life was hard then but seemed so peaceful and simple. I was born in the wrong century. Music, architecture, just society in general. God bless you!!

Have you visited much in Vermont. Three different times I went there with friends to take classes at King Arthur Flour. I love visiting Bennington Pottery along the way. I enjoy Grandma Moses and will Moses, also Currier and Ives.

Yes! While my son lived there we visited about twice a year. I have some Bennington pottery and I love it! I saw Norman Rockwell's place.

@ I think we are long lost sisters! The long cracker holder (I know there is a better name for it) is what I put my clove stuffed oranges in for Christmas. I fill the little bowls with scented potpourri. I am not as fond of their new colors as I am of their solid ones.

Kandye I love folk art! Wish you would expand this series!! I have a lithograph of P Buckley Moss! Friends and I met her at her Apple Barn studio I bought Springtime At the Bridge in 20004! She was so nice!! Even stayed late as we were traveling from Amish country in Pennsylvania!!

I remember she was so big in the 80's. Her work is still precious! I will continue to mix it in because there is so much of it to cover! I also loved Carol Endres in the 90's. I had her wallpaper all over my house. I wish they still manufactured it. It would still be relevant today!
