In Europe, there is a powdered antihistamine that some people inhale nasally similar to Neo-Synephrine nasal spray in the US. I believe it is legal for European tourists to bring it with them to the US same as US tourists may bring Tylenol or Pepto-Bismol and other meds with them when they travel to Europe but it's a bad idea because very few years, there are news stories about the powdered antihistamine being mistaken for narcotics.

I was raised in the midwest by many women with her demeanor. They see themselves as fundamentally different from criminals, i.e. "those people". She doesn't see it as snorting illicit substances, she's taking a pain medication, recommended by a friend, via a route to make it work faster. Pill sharing there is rampant, how was she to know? She can't possibly be an addict with 6 OWIs, she donates blood regularly and is kind! Why would she be treated like a criminal, being evil for evil's sake, when she's just a good person going through adversity?

It’s the best way to validate without being accountable. I zoomed in just her and her body language was just disgusting, like a temper tantrum in isle four and how dare the judge call her out. A year sitting and it hasn’t clicked, it never will.
@zubetp4 күн бұрын
spot on. it reminds me of when young women who protest outside clinics seek an abortion and then return to protest after their recovery. "i'm not like those other women. i actually have a good reason to be here. they just don't get it." it's classic denial. by turning behavior into an identity, she can separate herself from others. she can continue to condemn others and maintain a positive self image despite engaging in the very behavior she condemns. no lifestyle changes are necessary at the rationalization olympics. you can always tell when they have to explain away other dots on the chart with their many, many reasons. she referred to a previous OWI as her being within the legal limits of a medication she was prescribed, and she was pulled over because of an incredible storm. only the first DUI was real. all others are complex comedies of errs that happened _to_ her. not only is it more unicycling around to avoid being A Criminal, it also demonstrates the fact that she knows this event will be scrutinized. if she really was an innocent bystander and lacked _all_ self awareness, it wouldn't occur to her to rearrange that memory.

Does drugs and donates blood? I hope they check it each time because sheesh I'd hate to get that mixed into me.
@QemeH4 күн бұрын
@@kosgoth In most locations, no. They ask screening questions (like "Have you taken any drugs or medication in the last 72h? If so, specify name and amount!") and exclude people who report having taken opioids, but the blood itself is usually not tested for it. They rely on donors' honesty (which they feel like they can, because it is not allowed to pay for blood, it must be donated without anything in return). The blood however IS tested for a large number of viruses like HIV, HBV, Malaria and others... @all She's just a "good christian lady"! How dare y'all compare her to the unwashed masses!

I’m baffled that with a sixth drunk driving she is only sentenced to three years imprisonment. It absolutely should have been no less than ten years for the offense. The laws are way too lenient. If she had to do seven or eight years after the second DUI, she might have learned a lesson. However, without any significant consequences, she feels that they should simply reprimand her and let her out to drive drunk, once again. I’m thankful that she didn’t kill anyone driving drunk all of those times she was never caught.
@elainemurphy211520 сағат бұрын
She was charged with OWI it’s almost like a step down from DWI. AND every Ten yrs you start over. She was right when she said if the guy didn’t hit her from behind then none of this would have happened. She tells the court how she honestly feels and gets hammered for it. You can bet that judge will get reprimanded for stating the wrong facts with the labels on bottles saying don’t drive on this medication or YOU WILL KILL SOMEONE.

She is my absolute favourite Zoom court judge, she listens carefully until the end and when she finally speaks, she topples tall tales with her razor sharp memory. Judges certainly need to be competent lawyers to get to the bench, but she's on another level of intelligence. I will say that her live court sessions tend to be quite dry, as is expected with a judge in control of her courtroom. But when you catch someone trying to lie or act out in court, Judge Buchanan's callouts are brutal - I cringe at how stupid and small she makes some of these liars look. She is acutely aware of every case before her in a way that most judges are not.

What is the point of defendant statements before sentencing? 100% of the time the judge just criticizes it as inadequate. If they take 100% responsibility for their bad choices and reflect deeply on their impact on others and society, the judge that as rationale for the sentence-while also complaining that they didn't go far enough or missed something. If they give extenuating factors, the judge says they didn't take responsibility. If they say very little, then they are seen as unreflective. I've never once seen a judge find any sympathy or insight that would benefit the defendant. What is the point???

She just insisted that she is entitled to watch the child grow, and to continue to be part of her life. Given the absence of the daughter in the court, I'm guessing even if she does receive a light sentence, she will not be allowed anywhere near the child again. What a miserable, wretched creature. Ok, so now I've watched the rest. I agree with those who say she would drive again. Her lack of accountability and her disregard for basic rules is obvious. The judge didn't hold back. She knew she was basically scolding a brat, and I suspect she knew it would be a waste of time to order her into a rehab program. She will emerge at the end of those three years having learned absolutely nothing, but feeling entitled to live with her daughter and granddaughter. I hope the daughter goes no contact.

Not so much in this case because the lady had meth as well. But as far as the judge saying not to drive or operate machinery etc. while using a prescribed medication that has the warnings, I think if you have to take medications that mess with you like that, you should legally be allowed to call off work while on them. It's funny how if something happens they're all "you shouldn't be out while on the medication" but if you call in or try to get disability while on them so you don't have to go out, they don't allow that. Kind of a catch 22 there.
