Day 2 of the London/UK Pressure Point Striking Seminar with Grandmaster William Cheung. Grandmaster Cheung teaches a Bil Sao double Larp Sao combination to go to the blind side whilst attacking the opponents balance to set up the various pressure point strikes, he also shows his seminar audience a Chi Breathing exercise to control heart rate in survival stress situations and other very useful techniques and tips for anyone interested in Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu. I Hope you gain some useful insight and techniques from this video and enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it! Sifu Dom Békés.

They're idiots. It doesn't take much to find the pressure points on your own body, he explains them so well. You can test on yourself what happens when they get struck, in fact I would recommend you do so. You know how police candidates get tasered themselves during training in order to know what to expect ? Same idea.

People who doubt the effectiveness of pressure points have never trained with a master. Knowing where to hit is every bit as important as knowing how to hit and being physical fit. Without all three your chances of survival are slim. Not understanding human anatomy in martial arts is like being a surgeon who learns how to use a scalpel but has no idea where to cut.

The MMA crowd loves to invade videos like this and talk about how fake pressure points are. Meanwhile, BJJ and jiu-jitsu use extensive pressure points for everything from takedowns to guard passing. You literally put your knee on a pressure point along the bicep as a beginner level guard pass.

Some persons not. understand. In real fight William blocks the swing punch, goes with attackers momentum, controls his elbow, upsets his ballance. Thus nullifying the other attacking arm, as he is diverting his attack to the blind side. Only a Wing Chun master will understand.

Amazing self defense. It seems to keep an equal field. Let’s all stay safe and keep an antagonist at bay when need. It’s a shame to be an aggressor for no reason but a hero that will wake them up not to attempt to hurt anyone else. These videos are helpful and thank you for teaching how to protect oneself. So we can live in harmony and learn not to hurt each other but protect from hurt and crime. Live Love And Laugh but protect yourself ❤️

I do a version of the larp so, it enters and arm bars the same way but instead of stepping forward, or stepping outward, I take my right foot stepping into and turning to the right, spinning the opponent down face first into the ground. I've been uke to it many times, and I'll testify you can't resist it! It spun me right down to the ground every time, and wasn't a thing I could do about it.

Honestly, he never finished the complete WC training from Ip Man. That's why his style is quite different from Ip Man or his students. The forms William showed are created/imagined on his own. But he is good at making the public to believe that are the forms. I am not saying randomly. If one looks for what 'Sifu Kwok Fu' interview and Ip Chun said, one would know more about the fact. Also, if one really knows WC basic, one can see William does violate some WC principle e.g. off elbow.
@traditionalwingchunkungfu6098
@traditionalwingchunkungfu6098 5 ай бұрын
The forms were shown to William by Yip Man, they're from Leung Bik Wor, Leung Jan's son (Yip Man's second teacher) the more common interpretation of the forms that you see in most schools were taught to William along with the rest of Yip Man's students came came from Yip Man's first teacher Chan Wah Shun. You can't judge the Leung Bik Wor version through the lens of the Chan Wah Shun version. The objectives are different, therefore they prioritise different principles and strategy. One advocates fighting centreline to centreline, the other advocates stepping off line and fighting on the opponents flank controlling the leading elbow. They have different weight distribution and footwork depending on there distinctive objectives, same style and training methods. Different application and usage.

@@lionsden4563I've seen full speed demonstrations of police swat team and special forces military using this exact same defense against someone with a knife with the block and transition to an arm lock then taken to the ground. So if this wouldn't work in any situation against a 'resisting opponent' then why would these highly trained people even practice this technique? Are they just playing around or maybe it's more like you just don't know what the fuck you're talking about? There is a very big difference between fighting 'sports' and fighting in military combat or police operations. In the ring you don't have to worry about your opponent having a knife, or gun, you don't have to worry about having your nuts ripped off or eyes gouged out but in the real world, anything goes so you can't really compare the two as the same thing.

This is a technique that does not belong to Wing Chun. Chung must have found this arm bar technique from youtube. It looks great in a demo but will never work against someone who puts up even a slight resistance. The reason is all biomechanics. Chung pushes with his left hand on the other person's elbow using his pectoral muscle against the opponent who will resist by using his biceps to curl inward and his large shoulder muscles to push back. There is no way the pectoral muscle used to execute this arm bar will be stronger than the resistant muscle of both the biceps and the large shoulder muscles resisting at the same time. I know this for a fact because I am a 4th degree Hapkido martial artist who also trains BJJ and MMA. Because this is a typical Hapkido arm bar, I know it inside out and the way he is showing the technique is completely wrong. It will only work if his right hand is pulling the opponent's arm in a small jujitsu circle swiftly and a knife hand is used on a nerve point two inches above the elbow joint. Too technical for me to explain but I do know it's very hard to execute against a resistant opponent in a real MMA or street fight. I think this Chung guy has no clue what he's talking about as he has never tried it in real fight situations. It's the same with his alleged knowledge in how to counter against a MMA fighter shooting in for a takedown. It looks good in demo but will never work against even a novice BJJ practioner or MMA fighter. I found most of his demos useless. So sad so many people buys into all this useless techniques he shows. They couldn't have been a part of Wing Chun in the olden days because MMA or BJJ was not popular at the time and place Wing Chun developed.

An arm bar is not exactly rocket science. Holding the wrist while exerting a little force behind the elbow undoubtedly goes way back to the origins of organised fighting techniques. I would be surprised if any traditional martial art would not know it. Maybe some practitioners/laymen. MMA and BJJ have drawn and synthesised there methods from existing martial arts. They didn't start from square one. No one had to wait for the dawn of MMA and BJJ to learn the arm bar technique. In the video William Cheung has the position in such a way that he has the advantage of leverage over his opponents position. So you can use a little force to execute the technique. He has also attacked his partners balance or base making it harder for him to fight back before he recovers his balance. Timing is crucial as with any successful technique. If you get it wrong and he resists you don't fight force with force you change the angle and move to a different technique. In the same way you see BJJ on the mat you transition until you get the move you need or until he does oops...

ye agreed if i need grappling i would use bjj or jj or judeo or wrestling. wing chun can only do a poor mans version of ju jitsu. his arm restraint looked very bad compared to his expert technique on everything else. proper arm restraint ( you called it arm bar but its in fact an arm restraint used by police forces) requite wrist manipulation. You cant get someone to floor like that with just arm restraint unless you either control his hips or his wrist. I think what he trying to say here is that the opponents town momentum will carry him to floor. we all know that shit like that rarely works in real time.

Gentleman Gentleman FYI have you used this technique that can knock a person out cold? Do not knock something you have no experience with.

you are not taking into account the fact that these techniques are done after the opponent as already been struck...this releases the tension in the arm which makes it possible for you to do the break or lock.....all the time when i do this on an opponent they resist and say it does not work but they do not take into account they have been punched first!! It does work...and even if there is resistance you do not fight the move but transition into another move...it should be flowing and not a static one hit one move sequence
