My husband was just saying the same thing! Lines or no lines, it's not easy with a hand saw.
@parapicktog77343 жыл бұрын
@@eledatowle7128 sure it is. It's actually easier to keep straight with a handsaw than it is with a powersaw because it cuts slower. I'm a construction worker, and have no trouble at all following a line when cutting, weather it's straight, curved, or even compound miter lines. If you can't cut straight try this: 1) make sure your blade is tight in the frame 2) make sure the blade is sharpened properly the same on both sides 3)choose the right blade for the material. Harder materials use a higher TPI blade 4) don't force it. Don't try to push harder or go too fast. Let the saw do the cutting. 5) don't put any twisting or side pressure on the blade if you are trying to cut straight. 6) keep you hand and arm straight in line with the saw. 7) whistle led zeppelin songs (it works for me). 8)only put pressure on the push stroke. Slightly lift on the back stroke.
@eledatowle71283 жыл бұрын
@@parapicktog7734 Hey, this is great advice! Thanks. We keep only one saw, so the blade is probably wrong for more than half of the things we use it for... Not to mention probably rather dull. You gave me a chuckle at whistling Led Zeppelin, but you know I'm gonna do that next time! I've got some hen nest boxes to made soon.

Grandpa Amu is an amazing source of ancient knowledge. Perhaps Grandpa could teach us how he makes his tools. Though many of us have ''modern'' tools, it would be prudent to learn how to make due without them. If you need a tool that you don't have and have no way of obtaining, you must know how to make it. Just think ''what would Grandpa Amu do?''
