Nice, descriptive video. Thanks. I was, kind of, bequeathed an early 1960s, high row crop, 65, with a Perkins diesel engine. With a good battery, it starts very well, in any kind of weather. As far as I know, nothing has been rebuilt on it. It uses no oil, has good compression, and was not taken great care of, before I acquired it. I changed the oil, and filter, and the fuel filters, which I am pretty sure none of had been changed in over 20 years. I love the old tractor. It is the best starting and running piece of equipment, I own and is very powerful for its size. The large diameter rear wheels, and the 2 range transmission are very useful for hard pulling, and for slow bush hogging. I do need to rebuild the leaking power steering gear and get the multi power back to working. The free wheeling down hills can be dangerous.

My first farm job, the man I worked for had and still has a 1963 model 65. Gas utility with a Freeman loader. When I first started working for him we used it to clean sheep stable and loafing pens for the milk cows and dry cows. We also raked over a 100 acres of hay and ran a John Deere 400 feed grinder to mix shell corn and oats for lambs. With the loader in the air we could hook hay wagons to the front and put them in the barn. It was handy and seemed to have plenty of power for the loader.

Hey You can get any part You need for that M-F 65 it's just a matter of how much time & $$$$$$ You want to put into it I own a 1959 M-F 50 with a Z 134 Continental gasoline engine & I still use it year round & the best thing I did to it was put in a electronic ignition & she is just as reliable as my newer 2018 M-F 1526 that I bought new in 2018 & I bought the M-F 50 used 25 years ago & that was the 1st tractor I've ever owned or anyone in my family & my brother just bought a new M-F 1723 EB this year. The M-F 50 made me a M-F tractor fan & got my loyalty & I have no regrets with the old & the young tractors that are M-F.

Back in the 1960's the 65 Massey Ferguson was the work horse on many farms. My dad bought one new.

Just found your channel through OLF's video. I have a '58 MF 50, Continental Z134. It's nice to see a 65, so thanks for sharing! We just finished replacing the clutch, radiator, water pump, thermosdat, power steering hoses and fluid (actually works now that there's ATF instead of motor oil!), and an engine oil change. Just needs hydraulic fluid changed and some electrical work and it'll be great to go, but today, it will be plowing snow with a back blade!

I looking at buying a 65 Massey Ferguson that I found in a barn that doesn't want to start. It cranks over but I think the breather filters are stopped up. I have two other tractors really wanting the Massey Ferguson 65 to restore because it's a classic and to use occasionally.I had rebuilt and painted my IMT 539 it the same as a TO35 Massey Ferguson, I consider the 539 IMT a classic also. That's awesome the Massey Ferguson 65 has been in your family for 3 generations. It be a tribute to your grandfather if some day you restore the old gal. It looks to have good sheet metal. It's a classic icon.

Flemington NJ, the location of that old tractor dealership, reminded me also of a wonderful musician who played with Bruce Springsteen's band from the start till his passing, Dan Federici.

We had a MF 65 gas back in the 1960's, I always liked it thought it was a good tractor.

It’s paid for and has sentimental value so theirs no shame in running it until you can’t get parts for it anymore

Not a huge MF fan, but sweet little tractor! I do love their diesel v8 tractors like 1150, 1155, 2805, 2745. I'd certainly take a 65 though actually. I like those too.

We have a 65 with a Perkins diesel motor with the full weights in the front and rear and 2 remote values that my grandpa bought new. It has we think 10,200 hours since the original odometer says 1,200 lol. We still used it until the fuel got in the oil and oil is in the fuel. Plus you take the oil dip or and it shoots out oil and the injection pump leaks alot lol. I think it's time for a rebuild lol. That Massey at 20 degrees will start every time compare to my ih 786 were if you don't plug it in your up stream without a paddle lol.

You could find a 203 diesel engine to swap into it would be wonderful I think there still being manufactured by Perkins

My Great Uncle has a Massey Ferguson 65 with a loader and a plow. It needs some work, hydraulics leak and it needs an oil change. It also needs a new exhaust pipe since the one is on there is kind of ghetto rigged.

We have and IMT 560 which is basically version of Massey Ferguson 65. I saw MF65 with Perkins 4 cylinder M34 engine where our IMT have exactly the same engine manufactured domestically under licence , but your MF65 has a different engine that I do not recognize at all. It looks like S44 Perkins engine that has 75hp, but it is still different from it.
@839Unipicker3 жыл бұрын
Ours has a Continental G176 gasoline engine. As far as I know, this engine was only available in North America.
@donaldthomas58523 жыл бұрын
Stevan Gucci does your IMT 560 have the older round hood or the newer square hood ? I have a 1989 IMT 539 3 cly diesel with the older style rounded hood. Rebuilt it in 2009 and repainted it . I used it a lot since, I've put over 2500 hrs on it. Still runs good.

@@donaldthomas5852 I have the model that looks like this one in the link. My is 1986 model with thicker window rams, while this is some 1990s model with better visibility ramless windows. 560 is less reliable comparing to 539 since it has lots of hydraulic components like steering, brakes and lifting arms. Currently the back arm pump is under repair since it didn't want to lift plough in the field anymore last November. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5OQlnmpZ6uShcU

Stevan Gucu- my 539 IMT has power steering on it . I am now working on the hydraulic pump, bought a rebuilt kit. I wanting to buy a 65 Massey Ferguson with the 3.3L 4 cly Diesel engine with power steering . They are one of my favorite tractors of all time.

I have a 60 Ford 801Gasoline and a 82 MF 250 Diesel The Ford Does Good with Rotary Mowing and PTO loads .. Massey seems to be better suited for Tillage Jobs. I keep them in a Barn and do P.M on them . New Head Gaskets and Machining on the Head for the Massey. Had to have the steering box rebuilt for the Ford.
