Hello Ralph and LeaAnn, Hurrah the tunnel works, or the chickens work. I think that the pigs have lost weight - little guys 25lbs each , Lola probably 75 lbs. Or more because you can see the body changes on them all. 😊 It was so nice that LeaAnn got to see the chicken grab that mouse. They do stand up for themselves when the need arises. Yea, 2 mice in one day, good chickens. Momma always looks at you like, Baby is a teenager now and does what she wants. She will be here after a while.

Farmers place a branch around a fence-jumping cow's neck. When they try to jump, the stick pokes them in the chest. It doesn't hurt them but stops them. A stick wider than Batman's horns will help deter him from getting through the dog door. It is not unkind; it is a way to stop his activities. He has to learn that he is not "large and in charge." For Batman, most farmers use a dowel and electrical tape wrapped around the horns multiple times. I'm not sure how Batman will react to it.

That is a great idea Lee. The stick of shame for Bateman. Other channels have to do that when their goats keep getting their heads stuck through the fence. Glad the chickens keep the mice population down. Those mice can populate so fast and get into all the animal feed. So happy to see the chickens using the tunnel. The pigs are on the right track, it takes time and they are doing good. Keep up the great work.

My Grandpa had goats in Oregon when I was a kid and their favorite thing on the property to eat was poison oak. Goats definitely have an iron gut. Those blackberry vines are dessert to them🙂

you could tell Lola lost weight. she jumped up pretty quick when you called her name and showed her the bowl. before she was struggling to get up. so happy to see that their new routine for feeding is working for her and the girls. i was so happy to see the puppers back Batman off from the blackberry branch although technically it was his food lol. i think they were more interested in the sticks than the leaves. glad they are learning to snap at him so they have something to eat. now we just need a diet for Batman lol

BTW, cats get the majority of their water consumption from the food they eat. Canned/wet food of almost any variety according to our vet is better than almost any variety of dry.

That is a great weight loss rate for the pigs. Different breeds, different ages, and different amounts over their supposed to be weight and you have comparable losses. If you figure an average between all three and you will feel better about it

Hidden Heights Farm has a special dog feeder that keeps the goats from eating the dogs food. Don't know if it would work for you. The dogs were pups. Go back 2yrs or yr and a half. Showing a anatolian shepherd pup. She's bigger than your two. Look at it and if anything it might give you an idea. The feeder you can buy. Not sure if the contraption around it was made for him or you can buy it. Worth looking at anyways.

Yes put the stick on Batman it’s a learning tool lot of farmers use it to teach them to stop sticking their head through the fence because they get stuck. It will be a big help teaching him and might save him from the dogs in the long run

You girls just made Grandpa's day!!!! Watching them get thru the chunnel was just awesome!! You go gilrs!!! WTG Ryley & Revel, that's what batman needed!!!! Grandpa needs to stay out of it!!! Right kids :) Before you weigh the pigs, I'm guessing about 15-20lbs for the girls & Lola 40lbs. So the weight they all lost in a month is good, ya don't want them to loss a lot too fast!! Your younger group of hens seem to be real go-getters! 😊 I have commented on dog behavior before, since my late husband trained and competed with retrievers for many years, and we have always been "dog people". I am a long-time subscriber, please don't take this as judgmental, but I have a suggestion that you may have already heard. Instead of free-feeding the pups and leaving dry food sitting out to tempt the goats, have scheduled, monitored feedings of highly palatable wet food or a wet/dry mix and take the food up when they stop eating. That was how we were able to eliminate food issues and track the amount each dog ate with up to six Labs in the house at once. Even now when I only have one Lab, she still eats on a schedule. You may have other reasons for keeping a separate space for the dogs, but the main attractant for Batman wouldn't be there and maybe Riley and Revel wouldn't be as territorial. Just a thought. I know nothing about goats, but I am a Batman fan, and I believe that he isn't intentionally misbehaving. His environment has changed, and he is just exploring it. I imagine that Riley and Revel, as intelligent as they are, will respond much better to training than he would.

Jana I have no problem with putting the dogs on a schedule once they are out of the puppy stage. I have always been told they needed access to their food up until 18 months and some have said two years. Once they are considered fully developed then they can be on a schedule. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Grandma Doss

Glad to see the chickens finding their way through the "chunnel"!! How awesome is that? And they got a couple of those darn mice too!! I just knew the pigs had lost weight and now it's confirmed that they absolutely DID!!! Great job, G & G on these successes!!! I just love how you both are with all of your animals! She is Vicki and is foraging a lot during the day. Someone pointed out how quickly she got up when we took her bowl out too. I hadn’t given that a thought, but it’s true. She used to have to really work at getting up. 🙂

This had me laughing so much, the memories of me trying to weigh my two pigs came back 😂 I love pigs but they are the most stubbon and difficult animals to work with 😝 they really look so much thinner and they are fitter for losing weight, that's why it was harder to measure them.
