When nature calls, the last thing most people would want to do is take their ordinary family hauler and go blazing new trails through the deepest wilderness. While most of today's SUV's don't seem to really put the Sport in Sport Utility Vehicle, it hasn't stopped manufacturers from at least trying to make their mainstay family trucksters more "off-roady". Case in point, the 2023 #FordExplorer #Timberline, a curious mixture of an every day 3-row SUV that somehow now thinks it's capable of going anywhere at any time. The question is, could it really be as rough and rugged as it's name suggests? Thanks to Legacy Ford in Rosenberg, TX, it's time to see what this new #ExplorerTimberline is packing for the most adventurous types.

Mirrors do fold with the door locks. It just needs to be turned on in settings. There are many things built into the guage cluster and infotainment systems that you can turn on within the systems that are not turned from the factory. We are on our second timberline. Had a 2021 and now a 2023. Wanted to upgrade to the premium tech package not available on the 21. We do use ours offroad. Does way better than you may expect. Also has no problems loading 6 adults and the boat for a day on the lake.

They are power folding side mirrors, just change the settings in the vehicle. Also our Timberline is as fully loaded as any Limited on the lot. They only things we don’t have that our 2017 Limited had is ac seats, massage seats, (which they aren’t putting in any Explorer now.) and kick open rear hatch. It has everything else.

At 13:35 what am I seeing on the backs of the front seats? The stitching. Is…is that like really atrocious looking or what? I’ve seen that in a few spots on other explorers looking at dealer pics on their lots. Details like that really stand out to me.

so, why would I take this Over a Grand Cherokee? Only the price?

@@dylantech not really. Parts are cheaper, but not by much, since both are American

@@AlexanderNekrasov-xu9oe Fiat Chrysler has terrible reliability rankings. Ford isn’t spectacular, but it’s better than Jeep, which is why I drive a Toyota.

@@dylantech my personal experience with both Jeep and Ford has been good. My current Grand Cherokee has 128,000 miles on it without a single repair so far. I've only changed breaks and tires. The new car smell is gone, but other than that it's tight as a drum. Fords, I've had a bit more issues with, within 130K. But parts are cheap, unlike Toyota's. Jeeps and Fords have unpleasant issues in the first about 3 years after a major new engine/transmission some out. Later models are usually just fine.

@@AlexanderNekrasov-xu9oe That’s your anecdote. Their ratings are based on the general average, not a line individual. Fiat Chrysler rank poorly. Ford ranks a bit better. Toyota embarrasses them both, which is why I can expect my 4Runner to last a decade longer or at least double the odometer of a spent Grand Cherokee or Explorer.
