I enjoy it more when you are giving some commentary while you're working, as opposed to just watching the work. All the little tips like watch how deep you cut with your knife, watching for nail spots when cutting a shingle out, when to use caulk and what kind of caulk/material to use are really helpfull. More tips the better! Other info that I think would be helpful is a bit more on why your are replacing/repairing what your are working on - what failed, why it failed, what to look for ect. Also how you got the call to the job - tells homeowners what to look for/when they should call a roofer to check something out. I'm a small contractor who came across your channel while searching for some roofing tips for a small repair. Its great finding someone who takes the job seriously, doesn't cut corners and does things right

The nicest thing about watching at true speed without cuts for myself is, Not feeling as if things are taking to long when I have to do them. Crafting is a form of art. A good craftsman teaches best with the actions they use and explanation as they do them. You Sir , could recite a bedtime story while working, and there would still be worlds of learning to be gleaned from your video's. Slowing down a little and just doing as you do, with the thoughtful notations, is an excellent learning environment. But You are fast and know where your headed. Being able to rewind KZbin is a great workaround.

One thing for the DIY person is to outline the area of work in chalk as you remove the shingles/nails. That way, when the job is done, you double check the strips/shingles where you were. Chalk will wash off so there isn't any writing left after the next rain storm.

I do not seal under bottom downside of the flange so that if water does get under flange, it will exit out of the downside edge. If that underside is caulked, the water will get trapped and wick-up and under shingle. Just my 2-cents.

Hey like your channel, and been doing roofing for about 15 years and hate tar to , except areas that need it or manufacture recommends using like lap seems on liberty peel and stick, and all rake and even edges on the only. But I like that black geoseal u use I use the type of product. Works great! I used to use tar in a tube up until about 3 /4 yrs ago to seal back down shingles I disturbed doing a repair come over boot pipe flashing, and I used it on those three tabs that where loose and a client had a few broken or loose good content👍

I just finished watching the installation video by the manufacturer for that flashing and they said not to nail the bottom where the nail heads will be exposed to weather. My roof flashing had nail heads exposed, rusted out, and leaking water on to the deck because some “know it all” did not follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions.

Thanks for an excellent video bro. With me I would not nail the bottom exposed portion of the pipe vent flashing because it is not going anywhere (being held down from the top with nails and also the PVC pipe). The second you put nails and water flows over, even if you caulk the over the nails well, you are creating a chance for leaks, but that is just me.... What is that sealant you are using? It looks clear and is silicone, right?

KZbin keeps making changes to how things work. When I like👍🏼 a video, it doesn't highlight in blue until I leave and then return again. 🤔 so if I tap that like button an even number of times, does it unlike it?

Yes doesn't matter how many times you hit it, if you end on an even number of times it will not be blue. KZbin did crash last night though, that may have been the problem.
