This is a great plan and I think you'll find the ff community will respond well to it. We don't want to see you binge, we want to see you slow down, catch the story beats and get emotionally involved with this world. We're here for it. Eventually when you feel comfier with the pace you're going and your viewership, you can integrate some variety into your play rotation which can stretch out your ff14 journey and also establish a community that is not just 14 enjoyers.

Thank you for the lovely reply and great advice! It really is a journey and I want to enjoy it as best I can because like all great stories / journeys... you can only do them for the first time, once! :)

@@RedzyTV Big point of care: there are many more people in the FFXIV community who just like watching new players' first reactions to things compared to how many will stick around for more general type of content. A significant viewership dip is normal once you get to the end.

I can recommend to get in touch with the Grinding Gear Boys for a Podcast Grilling/MSQ&A. I do not Know if they will agree, but they mentioned they wanted to interview new Content creators in the community who are doing the MSQ currently.

That is an awesome idea, I may reach out to them after I have spent a little more time in the game and getting into the FFXIV space - if you know what I mean - as I really do not want anyone to think I am trying to reach out to them looking for an easy ride, etc. I am aware my stream was shared in their discord and I have been very vocal about how grateful I am for that on my streams, but I do not want to join their discord and start saying thanks, etc. as to me that is too close to a self promotion / publicity stunt... its just not what I'm all about! :) Thank you again for your support and the recommendations!

I recommend leveling a Lancer to Dragoon to take into Heavensward, it's very rewarding and fits the overall theme of that expansion and rewards you with unique interactions. Just like I recommend people take Samurai into Stormblood, or Dark knight into Shadowbringers.

A few people have mentioned this in stream chat and it sounds like something I am keen to do, especially if the reward is unique interactions - thank you for the advice!

A trick some streamers use is to mark your streams as unlisted (after they're no longer live) but add them to a playlist so people who want to watch them can still find them. 5+ hour videos aren't good by themselves for metrics but they won't do harm either as long as they're unlisted. Making clips/highlights of favorite moments can be good for metrics themselves.

Thanks for the advice mate, it is greatly appreciated :) So far I have been doing that with the exception of my own little test - I publish the VOD afterward but do not send a notification to subscribers so as to avoid ping / feed spam and let the algo do its thing. I tried to research and see other peoples reports on this approach but there was little to no data available, so I figured I would do my own test and see how it goes! Early results have been great BUT I can see a big drop off over the last week, too early to tell and I don't want to kneejerk change on a whim - but my gut tells me its more to do with DT launch, people avoiding spoilers and video platforms, and that I simply haven't been doing BIG moments in recent streams in terms of MSQ Vampire feeding haha :) Its hard to not let the metrics get in the way but I am going to stay strong, stick to what I want to test and then review the data after a decent amount of time. Until then... there is plenty more FFXIV to enjoy!

Taking your time is the right way to do this, imo, though obviously to each their own. The main streamers I watch are finishing the MSQ this week, and they started over 2 years ago.

Sounds like a fun plan! I tried ffxiv for the first time late in the 2.x patch cycle, quickly lost interest because I wasn't in the right headspace for it, then picked it back up during 3.x a few months before Stormblood released and have been playing ever since. But I never paid much attention to the media being created at the time, so I'm really interested to see what you dig up from the 2.x-3.x era. Glad to hear you're enjoying the game and that you're pacing yourself to avoid burnout.
@RedzyTV

So far the plan has worked out really well, with the exception that I really wanna play FFXIV in the week but don't want to progress anything that should be shared with the stream - its a killer but it will help avoid burnout for sure! Headspace / mindset really seems key to enjoying the game and I feel you on that. Some cool at the time media stuff that we have dug up on stream will be coming to standalone videos soon, hope you enjoy :)

Good plan! Also always a good idea to let everyone know what you plan to do in each stream. (like which dungeons/trials you want to do or if you just to msq and chill, or plan some events like a chocobo race in the gold saucer etc.) 🙂

Yeah, this is the correct approach. I was lucky to have Bala tell me to do this (Grok here btw), i.e. complete all the blue quests for every expansion so I get all the side content / jobs / features, before moving onto the next expansion. Gives you much needed backstory and context you'd miss if you just gunned through MSQ. You're in the worst bit of the game right now, it's going to hook you harder in HW and SB.

Personally I would leave out PLL's and Patchnotes (Patch-Trailers are recommended still), as they mostly do not benefit people after the fact. The rest of the approach is very valid and I like the Idea.

At the moment I have been more interested in the patch trailers and their official website pages. Patch notes I have no interest in tbh, and whilst I wanted to check out Live Letters - research has shown this might not be a great idea... maybe reading transcripts of them but still up in the air atm. Community content is still 100% a thing I want to consume though, sadly it is not very present during the earlier era of the game but I know that will change as I get closer to HW and beyond!

Just wanted to let you know that i appreciate your videos and the effort. Oh! Also i think i speak for the majority of 14 players when I say don't feel like you need to rush it to Dawntrail. 14 is a slow burn and the endings are exponentially better if you've been absorbing the journey.

This sounds like a lovely approach. An FFXIV audience will typically be eager for each and every beat, with MSQ being king. Have you considered how you are approaching difficult content yet? While doing the MSQ, trials, dungeons, and Alliance Raids patch-by-patch will fit nicely into those 4-hour chunks, it’s possible that an Extreme trial could be the entirety of one of those streams if done blind and min-iLVL (which is fine with most). There are turns in the Coils of Bahamut that could easily take one or two weeks of 4 hour streams if done miniLvL and blind. Most of us love each and every part of these, but you’ll definitely want to see how you feel about them and how you’ll schedule them and if you’ll want some MSQ palate cleansers in the middle of that (or if you prefer to not go blind or miniLVL after giving it a go) Best of luck and welcome to an amazing journey!!
@RedzyTV

Thank you for the support Zach :) Since 2.0 my approach has been to do all content patch by patch using MINE settings with stream community members - it has been amazing and extremely fun so far. We did Ultima's Bane MINE blind together last stream... blew my mind :) I think that when I hit more difficult extremes, etc. I will certainly have to be careful and aware that it could be the sole purpose of a stream - which is fine with me, and I am sure those who care will watch and others will not, perfect balance of choice :) haha The MSQ as little breaks between those streams is also a great idea too - thank you again for the kind words and great advice! I enjoy you are going at ur own speed nothing wrong with that but i wanted to check ur vods to see ur progress and see specific parts and it's a damn mess having 30+ segmented separate 2 hour streams is not fun to search through so yeah ill just wait for compilation of everything and check back here in few months
@RedzyTV

Thank you for the comment, it is really helpful to know thoughts like this! I can appreciate that whilst I have tried to keep titles / thumbnails reflective of content within VODs - I have only really gotten a better at it in the last few streams, with the aim of setting clear objectives (2.2 MSW for example) at the start of the stream, then ending it once I complete it - thus making it feel like more of a standalone video on YT. Hopefully that new approach helps, but something else I want to try is compilations / big moment edits. The only issue is knowing what moments people would really like to see, but I will rely on peeps from the Discord community to help with that as I need guidance to be spoiler free :)
