@@unfortunateimperial6019 I see what your saying, my dad is 65 and im 29... I think once you reach a certain age or a mental point that causes people to act like this. My dad acts like hes really helpless as in lazy, but really hes just been enabled to act a certain way and hes able to get away with being lazy. The real old ladys that were born in the 20s or 30s come from a different time and wernt lazy but sheltered but sheltered in a way from real life confrontation. There used to being told by a man or person of authority what theyre supposed to do. The age thing I mentioned is I know a person whose bout 31 or 32 and his spouse is 20, and his spouses mother is 35. So hes 32 and his mother in law is 35 so mother inlaws mom, could be in her 50s making the person I who I know, their son (20+31 y/o are the parents) be a great gran child. I've done legitimate technical support with elderly people and this is exactly how they are, they don't intuitively understand the computer and you really have to hold their hand during the process. This is a totally believable character because this is exactly the way some old people are when you're trying to get them to do something that you think is completely simple. The scammer has no idea he's being scammed because he really believes he's talking to an old lady.

+TrasherBiner - Scammers routinely target old, vulnerable people who aren't compos mentis. My wife's 95 year old Grandma had a spate of scam calls from India and on one call she was in the process of giving them money until her son intercepted the call. Most scammers can't wait to get off the phone if they're talking to someone younger than 70. They don't give a fuck about being nice because it's probably not going to help if they're dealing with someone who's losing their mind to dementia. The whole purpose of the scam call is to frighten and confuse the person on the other end and that's what almost happened with my wife's Grandma who nearly spent a grand on a non-existent technical fix for her laptop. The shouting is keep the old person focused on the task in hand i.e. giving the scammer money or providing the scammer access to their bank account. In addition, someone else I know had one of his bank accounts wiped of over £30,000 because his 83 year old wife (she has dementia) had been scammed. They eventually got their money back from Santander but only when the local Member of Parliament was involved.

Not a huge surprise to me. A small tight knit small group of ten scammers where everyone knows one another might try a little harder to make money if they know all the tricks, but some of these call centres can have 200+ staff. So you'll definitely get people with varied levels of skill and patience when it comes to computers and communication. These call centres advertise freely online to the public, wanting new members for their completely legit activities (usually no mention of fraud or wrongdoing at all). They will only ever get shut down if the police investigate and can prove any wrongdoing. When that comes to countries abroad, this may be a slow or even non-existent process. After many months I am certain the majority working in large call centres that scam will act like any other typical fed up robotic call centre worker. When it comes to massive businesses anyway, only those at the very top will be making the big money. As for targeting vulnerable people or pensioners.. this is definitely true, but unfortunately this is exactly what many legal marketers have been blamed for also, usually attempting to sell products or extending contracts over the phone, or get you to switch to their service eg energy or phone

I’ve had the scammer calls. I play an 89 year old man that knows nothin about his computer. When asked if I have windows I say yes they came with the house when I moved I 1952. When asked if I could be in front of my computer I say yes. I comply with the turn on request after complaining that I could not find any key on the keyboard that says on. I’m actually running Linux on a Rasberrypie but following the scammers instructions for Windows. He frustrated but hangs in. He wants me to connect to the internet. I ask what the internet was. Screams come from the scammer. He asks where the internet modem is located and I ask what a comodem was. More screams and hangs up but calls me names. I managed to keep him busy with the 89 year old man for 45 minutes.

I had a guy on for 20 min one time. He was being very upset and threatened to hang up. I said, "please don't hang up, I have one question, can I ask it please?" He said " sir you are playing with me". "No no no, i have a legitimate question" I said. He said"Ok sir, what is your question" I said 'you are asking me to open up all these windows, none of my windows have screens... all of the bugs are just flying into the house". Haha, he freaked out and threatened to rain down a storm of viruses on my computer.

@haroldinhaven63286 жыл бұрын
This is great, very entertaining. I watched all of it, lol. Some ideas for the future, if you're into it, would be: have Nina and Roy switching on and off escalating into a domestic dispute/fight over paying for the service. Have Tyler take over the call somehow and see if they try to scam a kid into getting grandmas bank account/credit cards. Tell them that the fee for security is exactly what your meds cost and that's all the money you have for the month. See what they say to that situation. Another call, tell them as granny that you just got widowed and came into a substantial amount of money. Maybe that call could break your 3 hour record. They seem to want to get into your email and bank. If there is a way on your virtual machine to setup a fake connection where you sign into a fake bank page and they see you have thousands of dollars. Then watch them struggle to withdraw the funds from the account. Get an Indian accent and see how hard they try to scam someone from their own country.

As funny as this is, it’s giving me insight into gaps of my IT knowledge as well. What you’re doing is great on so many levels, the best of which is wasting time of someone trying to scam. Using a “burner card” with $1 is really fooling them too.
